**
I've always loved this song. Just like Jingle Bell Rock, I vividly remember listening to this one as a kid. It's one of the few Christmas tunes the classic rock stations in Houston would play around the holidays.
I think it's sad though that he sold his catalog like Motley Crue. He got a crazy amount of money (which is good for him), but It's just sad to me that he doesn't own his own music anymore. It's his life's work.
The Original bassist (as far as I can tell) is Garry Tallent. This version was originally recorded by Bruce and the E Street band. Garry is the sole original member of the band, and founding member. So, I'm taking his positioning as the correct way to play the song.
His slides make sense positioning-wise, but sometimes it sounds like there's a note in the part where he slides. I'll do what makes sense in context and is faithful to the audio and the live performances
Although there are a good number of these performances, It's hard to actually see Garry Tallent because it's usually focused on Bruce, the saxes in the solo, and then whatever special event is going on if there is one (not that that's a bad thing)
• Video
0:55 - Garry slides from low to mid/high, confirming positioning of the slide
1:07 - bar 45 thru end of chorus positioning
1:43 - position high on neck
1:54 - walking position, but doesn't always fit that section when looking at the track
4:03 - buildup at fret 8, full triplet, not shuffled 8ths
4:12 - hand is not low, so it must be high on the outro. Also, he slides down shortly after
• Bruce Springsteen - Sa...
3:10 - moves down fretboard from high to low
4:07 - buildup section is at fret 8, full triplets, not swung 8ths
4:14 - confirms positioning in outro
• Bruce Springsteen - Sa...
1:07 - guy in the middle of the stage. Shows low/mid/high position
2:54 - lowish hand position for the riff before the dropout, but same as ending
Thanks for watching! Enjoy :)
