It’s a pretty easy song imo holding the last note is the hardest but the rest isn’t that hard. I’ve done it before and I hadn’t even had voice training 😅
literally everyone is like “why’s everyone so obsessed with Mike Faist” but like... this is why? he’s so talented? not even just singing (which he somehow thinks he can’t sing well which is nuts to me), but he is putting SO MUCH into this. That’s why I love him so much is you know this man leaves every ounce of him in every performance he does because he’s so dedicated and just like wow. Pure talent. I love him so much

Mike "I'm Not A Strong Singer" Faist, everyone..... Like are you kidding me, his voice is so unique and his vocal technique is amazing, specially when you consider the fact that he was just 20/21 at the time?? The performance also feels so genuine bc of all that raw emotion, ugh we stan talent
I'm not sure but here's my assumption... So if you didn't already notice, he's the understudy for Jack Kelly (so is Brendon who plays Oscar), which means that he cannot be any of the leads because if he was to go on for Jeremy, someone else with equally good skills for the "lead" would have to go on for Mike instead. However if they cast him as Morris (which they did), who doesn't have any understudy, they could easily get a swing to cover him as Morris doesn't have much lines. (TBH aren't we all grateful that he gets to be the understudy?)
I think people are just used to hearing Jeremy sing this song and that is why they don’t necessarily hear “jack jelly”. Obviously Mike was a strong enough singer to be able to understudy Jack. So therefore he may not sound like the “typical Jack Kelly” but he brought HIS version of Jack to the stage ❤️

In Mike's interview, he mentioned that singing isn't his forte. Pls don't attack me but I agreed but mostly because I couldn't hear much of what he can really do and his deh performances were pretty limited. Now, I totally disagree. He does have his amazing vocal ability along with his talented dancing skills and singing while acting is a really huge challenge considered you are required to move/dance while singing. He really is amazing.

I actually like this version more than the original, and whereas it’s quite possibly because I love Mike Faist, I love the balance of emotion and vocal quality. And also he wasn’t much older than the actual character (21 to Jack Kelly’s 17)

I know everybody likes Jeremy Jordan (and he has a great voice don’t get me wrong) but THIS is what I expected of this song. I always felt Jeremy too flat on emotions or too drastic, either too angry or too sad with nothing in between. Mike goes from frustration to sadness to despair to anger to hopelessness and a bit dreamy. I always felt this song was missing something and I think Mike got it, now my own he is my favorite to interpret this song ❣️
Mike does really good! Especially with singing! I think that him having a big role like Jack Kelly is really cool! His role as Connor in DEH is also amazing!
