On Friday 11th October 2024 a powerful tropical storm ripped through the Cape Verde archipelago. Unfortunately, the wonderful old pier in Santa Maria took a hammering and was wiped out buy mid moring. Very sad for the local businesses who rely on the pier for their livelihoods. Lets hope it is rebuilt quickly!
