He played with us almost every night in Chicago in the 90's,.a few years after this and he was fabulous !! He played with us for free,..just to play music...we were so fortunate to have the chance to jam with him WHENEVER he wanted to play..haha...Rest in Soul Music, Buddy ..I'll never forget those days !!!
Big Buddy never got his due. He was dripping with soul and sang from a heart big enough to hold a dance on. One of God's messengers. Let's live together people!!!
Carlos Santana and Buddy Miles Live was one of my favorite albums, but I never saw Buddy play guitar. This video is a great eye opener in to how talented Buddy was. R.I.P. Buddy
He was also a very soulful vocalist..he could have held his own with the great soul singers of the day if he hadn't decided to be a drummer. Very fluid vocals and a great tone!
My word! I was completely blown away by this because I had no idea that Buddy Miles could play guitar because all along I thought he was a drummer so this took me by surprise and what really tool me by surprise was how well he played the guitar,I was in shock and awe at the same time when he unleashed those incendiary solos. He had soul in every kind of way.
Saw the Buddy Miles Express at the Fillmore in 1969 do Them Changes. First he sang, then he got on the drums while he had another drummer starting the song. When Buddy got on the drums for the bands solos, the chandelier began shaking, I never saw that before. After almost 50n years. it still is embedded in my mind. Awesome.
YEAAAAAAAAH BUDDY I JUST GOT CHILLS FROM THIS SHIT....especially the end solo section reminded me of PRINCE or Mike kidd funkadelic Hampton...mannnnnnn he killed that
I sure Wish I had been at This Concert , with Carlos and Buddy and the Santana Band ...Are U Kidding me ???? . Yes I agree that Buddy Miles did not get the notoriety he was Due . However, He was very well respected among his fellow musicians . A great Talent , Hendrix disciple for Sure ! Hell'va' Drummer ; but most folk did not know Buddy was a helluva Guitar Player ; as evidence in the video . Unbelievable . Buddy and Carlos were very Close also ! Thanks for sharing this Classic video . Bro. Ed
Buddy was talented beyond compare, but I didn’t know he played guitar, and left-handed? His tone and style remind me of Eddie Hazel. This jam does have a Funkadelic feel about it.
Met Buddy in 72 @ mother's apt. in Hollywood , he signed my "Them Changes" album cover. He was friend of my mother's boyfriend. They were friends with Jim hendrix .. good memories
, you know when God wants to listen to Pure soul pure pure rhythm and groove he will always tune into to buddy miles I think he has a regular reservation gigging Weekly heavens club ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🎶🎶🎶🎶
Young people look there’s a thing called “live rock music” and this is a prime example of freakin awesome live rock !!! Oh and another thing the musicians actually play there instruments!!!
Having played with Jimi AND Carlos it's funny how many people freak out on this. Carlos plays as good percussion as Buddy plays guitar. Buddy has a really great voice too. 'Freedom' is actually his best work.
I had a deep one-on-on conversation with Buddy Miles after I filmed his performance at NAMM. He revealed that he actually vowed to learn left hand Guitar once his friend & gypsy bandmate Jimi Hendrix died
They don't jam like this anymore and back in the sixties they had a little head medicine to help them along the way and everyone had a great peaceful time.
First of all I'm shocked seeing him play the guitar like a rock star and voice , forget about it ... he was an under appreciated musician , bcs of evil doers who control music , bottom line and its a shame , when you have idiots with half the talent promoted like something special when they're really garbage and Buddy Miles had talent on so many levels , such a great musician , great singer , great guitarist and drummer ...
Yeah,I for sure agree except I would not go nearly so far as to say "half the talent"!Our world is drowning now musically in soul-less techno/rap garbage. He was the full package. I was so happy when he joined Carlos for "Freedom" and by the time the tour came my way Alex was back and he's my least favorite.I saw Carlos 20 times and never got to see Buddy. There is an unrecorded tune in this concert called "One" that they played in Moscow-fabulous jamming and scatting-even by Alex who has good moments at least.
I can never understand people. They say such crazy stuff about Carlos they have to be Possessed and their demons infuriated that he brings up God so much. Carlos has jammed with thousands of musicians of every Genre and has how many 100's of Recordings? How many hours of instrumental guitar pieces 300? 400? Buddy Miles has ONE song that's any good on his own.
