Not only does he produce fantastic songs for his movies but he’s truly under appreciated for his background scores. Been listening to his entire album from Pariyerum Perumal, Vada Chennai and Karnan on repeat!
At around 6:20, BR talks about how SaNa has a knack for writing unpredictable chord progressions. I'm so glad someone pointed that out and appreciated this in front of him. SaNa's music writing skills are insane, and I personally love his work on chord progressions. Bravo Rangan sir!
You can see how much at ease he is with his art. SaNa reminds me of Mohanlal with respect to how easy and passionate he is about his art form. Such a genius! Such a natural! No air of arrogance.
4:21 the best question. The best. We all sana fans wanted the lyrics question to be asked to him by some anchors. Baradwaj rangan you are the best !! ❤️❤️ And sana tooo👍🏻
Hi rangan sir, I think sana is the only one person who has opened up quickly before firing your tricky questions. .. Open hearted person.. Nice interview..
After watching the interview, I listened to Sembagame song. The place where SaNa mentioned gives 3 distinct emotions in few seconds. The shock when the female voice abrubtly stops, the anticipation in the next few seconds becuase only animal sounds were used in that portion and the happiness when the male voice starts. The beginning of the same song is with only female voice. After two lines the music starts and the song starts with "Sembagame". SaNa is also doing this in his songs.
Sana brother, Like BR, Aasai oru pulveli is my the favorite composition of yours.. It was so simple but so eternal. Lately, we are missing that..Please compose albums like Cuckoo, Atta kathi, Mogathirai, Boomiyil Please 🙏🙏🙏🙏
7:47 The line that Santhosh is talking about is this: (G7)ennoda pattu satham thedum unna (Bb)pinna(F)le (F)Ep(Bb)podhum (Cm)unna (G#)thottu (Bb)paada(Eb)poraen (F)thanna(Bb)la So many unexpected changes in chords for almost every phrase.
Gangai Amaran, TR, SA Rajkumar, Deva, Yuvan, Vidya Sagar, Bharadwaj, Harris, Imman have all entertained us and their compositions are timeless, still being played all over. Please document their experience as well.
It's such a fun experience to watch Sana explain his music , sound pallettes and layers.... I think this is the second interview where BR let's Sana explain his magical compositions. Even for a person who doesn't understand the technicalities of music , it's really enriching to get an insight into Sana's world of music! Thanks BR 😀 and also it looks like Sana thoroughly enjoys explaining his tracks 😀 Knowledge can grow and be relevant only when shared - Sana being true to his words !
Always a pleasure to listen to SANA talk about music. Another great interview. BR - you asked about every top music director but you missed asking Harris Jayaraj. Would love to listen his fav Harris's song.
Absolutely the same humble and down to earth person since the beginning of his career.... There's something which sets his music apart from others....SaNa❤️❤️
SaNa in Tamil & Amit Trivedi in Hindi kind of changed the grammar of music in Indian films... SaNa is now on top of his game because of acceptance for experiments you find in Tamil Film Industry...
RAHMAN changed the grammar of Tamil and Hindi music like nobody before or after had done! Amit Trivedi was doing his 'indie'-flavoured stuff in Bollywood.. but that doesn't really work with big scale films. He never changed or dominated Bollywood film music. Today, with he relative absence of Rahman, Hindi film music is in the doldrums with the remix culture. SaNa is good in Tamil. But again, he isn't that versatile enough to shoulder the responsibility of carrying the legacy forward. He doesn't seem to have 1/1000th of the Carnatic and Hindustani depth of AR RAHMAN or ILAIYARAAJA, or even Vidyasagar. But he has been good at background scores and thematic raw songs.
@@thomsonsdiary2016 IR & ARR are the legends. I, myself is a great fan of both. They are in league of their own. Their music is a kind of polished & classy. SaNa & Amit added some rawness & some rustic flavor in their music. SaNa & Amit both worked with new age directors which helped them for doing experiments. IR, ARR both always gave importance to melody but in case of Sana & Amit, sometimes they don't stick to melody. Their music is kind of niche, so much of audience won't accept their music as much like stalwarts'. Being a Rahmaniac myself, can't wait to see Rahman back in action doing Hindi films... We are facing a lull of good music in Hindi films since Rahman is not around. (IDK why but other prominent music composers in Hindi like SEL, Pritam, Vishal-Shekhar are not doing much work nowadays.)
In 92 RAHMAN creatd a new type of music nd sounds!! Its totaly new and unique musical era... After him every composers stick into ARR zone. Only SaNa has capability to create different type of music... he creates his own style of music.... its totally different and unique from other composers! One thing SaNa should concentrate is.. some times, he over doing so called SaNa’s unique touch... sometimes it doesn’t connect with audiences as much nd its too Musical.. In that way ARR is Bloody musical genius coz he knows how to differentiate and make unique his music from others, also he knows how to connect general audiences to his music..
@@ROCKY-le7md yes.. i kow that! but as admirer of his works.. I want his music to reach more.. If he identifies the secret of knowing the pulse of audiences, He will be next to Ilaiya Raja and AR Rahman
@@Jackie_Labrador Some of ARR and Ilaiyaraaja songs are too musical but those songs accepted and liked by common people.. What Im trying to say is.. SaNa should concentrate the right balance between the Musical experiment and understanding the mind of common people
The minimalistic approach of SaNa is peak of his consciousness. BR is more socialising with no compromise on professionalism. More emotional connect established with the person.
His cuckoo songs had some kind of soul, it’s entire album was beautiful and his other albums only had few songs have a soul. I think he might be one of the melody king in the future. And @33:20 true magic happens.
Dear Rangan, Vergy qualitative content with Santhosh Narayanan. Music is all about 7 nodes with which you can bring 7 wonders down to your feet. The BGM that SN played reminds me of those Western genre in Hollywood especially all Client Eastwood flicks like Good, Bad, Ugly. Very friendly conversation, thank you for entertaining us - Rangan & SN! MSV - commercialized Tamil Music, IR - ruralized tamil music, ARR - internationalized tamil music, Santosh - earthified tamil music to put it in a nutshell.
Santhosh Narayanan has a unique sound and unique music compared to others but also his songs are mostly identified if we explore his music moreover more than the instruments, voices plays a major in background score and songs..this make him look in different way..
Dear Santhosh, Did you compensate the owner (Late Thekkampatti Sundarrajan and his family) of OST - Kanda Vara Sollunga Manikandane Kanda Vara Sollunga?
They inserted the piece only after compensating..... but the media who were eager to show the original piece didn't even give a bit about the fact that they inserted the song only after compensating
The bgm of rhythm movie is the derivative of the songs in the movie, which gives more feel. For this case, all ARR sir's scores are so captivating, which are all derivatives. SaNa's conscious decision not to use the derivative is good to an extent. But, we as a listener, we would like to have the flavour of the mood from the derivatives. llayaraja sir's interludes in the song can be bgm for many situations. we need all derivatives. we need to dive deep. I need to immerse myself in that.
Music composers are regionalized bro. Only few people are like ar rahman. So even after the name I highly doubt people of other language would try to watch this review. Even I like to watch interviews of falaknuma das composer and hero kannada movie composer but there aren't many
