The answer to that is a YES. The versatility in Sana's music is not with anyother music director at present. It was there once upon a time when Ilayaraja was there. If you're a musician, you'll understand the complexity in SaNa's music but at the same time, you'll find it soo simple as a listener. Also, The versatility SN has is nice, but KArnan doesn't show any of it, Kaala and Kabali's music shows his versatility ... If you're saying there's no versatility in Karnan, then you're the one who's dumb here. Have you ever listen to karnan songs fully first of all? . I kinda get it, you're someone who likes those electronic sounds Ani & Arr have used in those albums. You can see how deep the music is rooted to tamil and its history in karnan. Ani can't score for a movie like karnan, I'm pretty sure he had a lot of offers for movies(genres) like karnan in his 13 years industry experience but did he do? No. Arr before 2010 can do it but not the one who is right now. Listen to Uttradheengha yeppov in the first place if you want to know what is versatility is. No composition is better Manjaanathi puranam and kanda vara sollungha for karnan, it sits right in the place. Listen Karnan theme, you'll know how great that composition is. You can compose some catchy song and place in these movies and easily have the most viewed or listened song of the year but when the people who are related to the subject that the movie is about should feel related and think that the music is from their people itself. That's where a composer wins. SaNa won. No Doubt
