This is exactly how I was taught in Xing Yi. I've seen so many other schools collapse more on the back leg (80/20) and tuck their elbows in. I was starting to think that I was taught wrong, haha.
Yep you are right though , there is alot of misinformation out there and many people do collapse the front leg to be empty. I always ask them to test by throwing a punch into a pad like this - it is impossible to produce force. As for the elbows - what if you are trapped in that position whilst they are tucked into the body - again game over. 👍🏻
