As a non-law student but a common person using mediocre understanding of the law. CJ shouldve been acquitted. This proves how easily the law can be tweaked especially when there is no one to check them. We miss you MDS
Dee B sadly MDS checked them all both the prosecition and her judge collegues but they still voted guilty! unbelievable. not a law student either but listening to MDS and mga ginagawa ng prosecutors are so wrong, MDS stated and cited cases to further prove her point but still CJ was found guilty - unbelievable...just unbelievable!
The CJ impeachment saga recently popped into my feed. Apparently there were bribery allegations to the senators from the administration during that time. Meron daw secret letter na binigay sa mga senators as disbursement funds.
A mediocre understanding of the law would lead to the same judgement as the 20 senators. A mediocre person would simply refer to Article 11 section 17 and presume that failure to disclose the totality of his assets constitutes betrayal of public trust. Only jurisprudent people would delve further and wonder why a CJ should be guilty for the safekeeping of assets in their OWN NAME. At worst it was negligence and need not result in his removal from office.

@@hawthornroot there was a bribery scandal present at that time initiated by the former mapalabok pnoy to all senators who would vote for guilty. Kaya makikita niyo, walang effort makinig or manuod kasi bayad na and sad to see sen. Santiago wasted so much effort sa case na to where in fact matagal ng tapos ang laban dahil sa bribery :(

Either that or the prosecution was just this incompetent and dim-witted, though pretty sure CJ Corona was framed due to the Hacienda Luisita controversy.

This is ultimately because electoral candidates have too much freedom in campaigning. This one should be managed. Bawal dapat ang direct sponsorship towards candidates, only sa election advertising committee lang who will present all the candidates to the public equally. Obviously dapat bawal na yung vote buying. Yung posters dapat pare-pareho ang design and nakalagay yung details about the candidate! Sabay-sabay dapat silang lahat sa pangangampanya! Hindi na rin dapat pwede yung may kandidatong mag air ng budots ad sa TV. Kung gusto nila ng budots, dapat lahat ng kandidato magbubudots! >:(
