Hello guys I work as a driver in Santorini and I live here all year round. Santorini is a very touristic place but it's totally worth it to visit because as a Greek this place is very unique. Every place in the world has many sides like Santorini. For sure is one off the most expensive islands but trust me the cost of living in Santorini ever for us the locals is very expensive but when you go around a bit I ll always say is worth it! Anyway in Santorini you can find and very nice restaurants not so expensive and really nice hotels for your staying not so expensive also. Anyway really nice video thank you for all of you for visiting us and if you are not you should come once and if you need an advice, come after half of September or October that for me is the best time. And for the sunset Oia is beautiful but not the best. The best sunset as a local is in Imerovigli and Pyrgos. Good morning to all of you from Santorini

Many folks struggling to cover basic expenses often face this challenge because they didn't save enough during their working years. The choices made in preparing for retirement have significant impacts, as seen in my own family. Different investment strategies led to different outcomes. With guidance from a financial advisor, I'm now enjoying my retirement.
Yes, I'm in my mid-50s, and a few years back, I moved my investments to my wife's wealth manager. While I haven't caught up to her long-term gains, my current earnings and the growth of my retirement fund, compared to just relying on the 401(k), are pretty satisfying.
I've proactively looked into Jenny Pamogas Canayaonline, checked her credentials, and I am impressed with her expertise. I've contacted her to discuss my detailed financial market goals.
I am thrilled to have this opportunity, and I am delighted to share that I have discovered the professional's website. I have wasted no time and have already contacted her by sending a message..
Expensive? Santorini? In October? Early October is a great time to go. Crowds are lively enough but never feels crowded. Bright and sunny. Food and drink about as inexpensive as you get for somewhere so beautiful with the best food in the world. Santorini for a honeymoon would be sweeping
That’s my dream destination to go to Greece for a honeymoon - few nights in Santorini, Athens, and Mykonos. I want it to be warm and sunny though and less tourists. I’ll definitely look into October dates in the future
Santorini is not expensive go to MYKONOS then you will find what expensive mean .... and make around in Europe trip you will find that Santorini is not so expensive from Venice ore Spanish 🏝 like Ibiza... Mallorca go to Paris and you will find out
I've been to Santorini and had an amazing time there! Those views... I need to go back! Indeed the streets are super crowded and claustrophobic! During sunset you can't even walk in Oia because of so many people but I spent the other days exploring different sides of the island and that was nice. In terms of price, I did a lot of research and found amazing and affordable tavernas. Honestly, I found the food from the tavernas were much more tasty than the ones from the expensive restaurants. The sunset is stunning! Next time I want to stay in one of those hotels by the caldera so I can watch the susnet from the pool far from the crowds :-D Great video!
I couldn't agree more with all your points ! Had I started my youtube channel 1 year earlier, maybe you wouldn't have been surprised that much by the crowd and the prices ! Great video btw, really enjoyed watching it. Take care, Sebastian
I really enjoyed this video... narration, pace, filmography, and honest opinions. Very good job Kaja. I was not familiar with this channel so... time to watch some more videos.
I agree with you about the path of tourist walking passed your room! I prefer less crowds..For me, a Santorini holiday my choice for a hotel would be either Fira or Imerovigli. I'm not interested in staying longer than a few days. It seems very touristy and crowded. I'm sure the cruise ships bring much of the crowds for the sunset experience. I am more excited to go to Paros for an extended trip. I think it is more local and laid back. The kind of relaxing holiday I am interested in. Thank you for your videos! I look forward to your next adventure! 😎
We stayed 5 nights in Imerovigli. For us the best spot in Santorini. The Hike was one of our highlights. The top of Skaros Rock as well. We went to Oia at 8.00 and is was beautiful. Mostly ate pita's for €3.80 and it was yummm. Also the villages Pyrgos and Emporeion were very relaxing and beautiful. We went to Santorini in the end of May.
Just recently found you on YT and adore your videos. You definitely have a super charming, charismatic personality. I wish the very best for you and all your travels! Thanks for posting Kaja. x
Investigating and planning is key when visiting Santorini. Accommodation - my wife and I did not want to have noisy nightlife so we stayed in Akrotiri. Acomm was ver affoddable with picture perfect sea and caldera views from our hotel room. Food - we like staying away from touristy places and had superb food at very good prices. Sunset view- that was very disappointing. But only because we have been to Africa and nothing but nothing beats an African sunset. To us, a very basic sunset that many other places offer. Will I go back? No, but only because cause we have been there. If you have not been, you must go!!!
I have very mixed feelings about Santorini. Stayed there for a full week for a friend's wedding. Firstly, you don't need to stay there for more than a few days. Yes, it look stunning, but once you get passed how lovely it looks I found there was basically no culture, and all the shops and restaurants are tourism-central. I'm a bit weird in that I'd rather stay somewhere a lil rough around the edges like Athens where there's loads going on.
Thank for doing this video. I'm planning a solo vacation to Athens, Mykonos, and Santorini next year in September. Your video was very helpful. Did you feel safe on your hike alone?
I think it’s sad that you presented oia and fira as „santorini“.. i was in santorini in early june this year and it was beautiful!! We stayed in perissa, the beach there was beautiful too and 5 min away from us. We rented a quad and drove to fira, oia and pyrgos. Pyrgos is amazing for the culture and jewellery shops! For the sunset, we drove to the alt-thera mountain and it was the best decision! We saved a lot of money because we cooked ourself small meals every day. The last day, we ate in a resturant in oia and it was not expensive at all, because the „big view“ while eating was not important for us. In conclusion, santorini is beautiful if you book off season and if you know where to go! 🥰
I like your videos. They're lighthearted and you talk about the good and bad things you encounter. We're going to Greece next year and will be going to Santorini too. Hopefully we can do the trail.
To see true Greek beauty, without many tourists, you should visit the Pelion region, the smaller/less touristy islands and the ‘hidden gem of Greece’ Halkidiki
I stayed in Kamari for a few nights, then went on to Naxos, Mykonos and Athens Santorini can easily be done on a budget, compared to Mykonos which is really expensive compared to the other places in Greece where I went I'm planning on starting from Santorini again in September (I live in Bergamo so I can fly there for €70), and using it as a base to head to a few other islands
there seems to be a misconception regarding the reason why oia's sunset is so popular... its not really the sunset per se (u can find a similar spot in many other places) but the way the sunset reflects to the white houses on the cliff...
You can always bring a portable Power Bank with you and charge in the middle of the wilderness if you wish 😊 Just have to make sure to charge that up before you head out, of course. Great video!
Travel philosopher Kaja gives the most practical answer about the hype for Santorini. I would definitely want to visit it once but thanks Kaja for letting us know what to expect and how best to avoid the crowd. Keep up the good work.
If you travel to other european countries, its much more expensive, and what makes it special and unique,is nothing to compare to this magical and most beautiful island in the world...Crowds and expensive,is all how you want to share your holiday...If you look deeper you may find alot more better things to say....for people that respect, and can see.....!!!@

Really nice honest video. My wife and I had our honeymoon in Santorini staying in Fira and absolutely loved it. We went to Oia during the daytime but came back the following day to watch the sunset just further around to the North sat on a small sandy beach, it was heaven. I’d recommend a trip to the volcano but take plenty of water as it’s hard walking, also hire a quad bike and explore the east of the island where you can find beautiful fishing ports and small seafront bars, plus a trip to Akrotiri and Ancient Thera is a must. We will certainly be returning at some point when the pandemic calms down, hopefully for our wedding anniversary.
@@Shannen312 We had 10 days at the Philippion Boutique Hotel which is on the coast road and about 10-15 minutes walk from Fira centre. I would thoroughly recommend it as it was reasonably priced for Santorini, I think we paid around £800 for the 10 nights including breakfast. Our room was near the back of the hotel so we didn't get any road noise at all. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were really helpful and friendly. We had a couple of days by the pool which was relaxing and welcoming also. Fira is a 10 minute walk and the supermarket less than that. You can also just walk across the road and sit on the wall opposite the hotel to watch the sunset. Have a wonderful time, we'll certainly be going back as soon as is possible.
Just came back from Santorini last week, and Agree 100%. the crowds are incredible, drinks are 12 -15 Euros ! whaaaat !! convert that back to dollars. Food is a good portion most times Fish seems a bit pricey for being caught on a daily .Very Pretty place Very pretty walking is great. Greeks are nice, but they seem very stern and abrupt maybe tired of tourists at this time of the year? recommend it for a day or 2. Is great weather durning the day and a person the runs hot the evings are cool, for some it might seem Very cool, winds were incredible , but again I just came back. Most beach side stores in the process of closing for the season so keep that in mind. Over all I enjoyed this island, but feel like I enjoyed other Islands alot more. SIde note the Views are incredible but again for 1, 2 maybe 3 days.
It is super great video! I definitely learn more information about santorini. I am going to santorini in May. I am super excited and I will do hikes! Thank you!!
Just got home from Oia and I'd say you really only need one day to see it. Very beautiful but SOOOOO Touristy. I wish we had spent more time in Crete vs Santorini.
We stayed in Monolithos. Handful of tourists mainly locals. Peaceful. We found Oia and Fira very stressful and not living up to the hype. There are blue domes in many parts of the island to take pics; there is no need to go to Oia or Fira.
Lovely video I enjoyed it so much it makes me so happy 😊 I also I'm going alone but for a day. Thanks alot for the tips... Hugs and kisses from Cyprus 🇨🇾 🤗❤️and for me personally the prices are very good comparing the life experience and the views totally worth it... Take care 🤗
Yes santorini can be expensive and crowded but if you avoid oia at peak times I e. Sunset its totally different. We stay in fira most times we go, I love it. You can pay top price at restaurants and hotels if you want a view but there are lots of great hotels and restaurants away from the caldera thar are far cheaper and amazing food. We like to mix it up over the week, you can also stay in kamari, perissa perivolos etc and travel up to fira or oia. These resorts are far cheaper and less crowded
Unfortunately you didn’t show santorini at night which in my humble opinion is absolutely breathtaking! I think my favorite experience in santorini was visiting fira at night ! It’s amazing , it has the feeling that can’t be described, you need to just be there ! Only downside with santorini is the crowds and the bad driving 😅
Thank you for your honest and informative introduction to Santorini. I'm going there next year for my friend's wedding so thanks to you I found out what I should do and what not. Definitely hike from Phira to Oia is on my list. I'm just afraid that at the end of June it might be too hot and overcrowded so I'm not planning to stay there longer time.
We just spent 4 days in Santorini. We chose to spend more on a room in Oia. Overall I didn’t think it was that expensive. The prices in Oia is but Fira was more affordable. I’ll just say this, there is nowhere in the world that is as stunning as Santorini. The views r almost indescribable. If u get a chance, go. One tip, bring beach shoes. None of the beaches have sand. They r all rocks of various sizes even when u get in the water. You’ll definitely want them when u jump off the cliff in Ammoudi Bay.
When I visited a while back we slept in sunbeds by the road opposite Oia towards Akrotiri. It costed us exactly 0. In reality, Santorini is a big island and the less popular parts are reasonably priced. You can get 90% of the experience for sub 100 EUR per night accommodation. Today's tourists are spoiled, back in the day people would eat EUR 1 loafs of bread with EUR 1 Lacta chocolate sandwiches to get them through the day and maybe spend 20 EUR per person on a salad and a beer for dinner. I am pro high prices though because they bring tax revenue to the government. If you have the money spend it, if you don't there is still room for you too to enjoy the island. It is not Monaco or Disneyland, real people live in Santorini too.
Tourists expect everything in Greece to be for free.Dont try to convince them that they can sleep in the beach and eat a chocolate. We had this kind of "cheap tourists" for decades causing troubles ,dirt and many problems to the places they visited without offering to the state a penny. And state lives mainly from tourism. If they want cheap vacations they can go elsewhere. She is through this video ( and others about Greece) trying to persuade her followers not to come to Greece ,while she is saying the best about Turkey 🦃
Santorini has one of the most popular touristic brand names in Europe and of course it worth it! You may spent so much money because you got yourself through "touristic traps" :) smile !
Santorini was worth every dime. Just breath taking! I think the other islands like Mykonos II could have missed. As a whole I loved Italy more than Greece.
@@breezy_basil over all the there is more architecture that is better preserved in Italy.. Rome and the Vatican had way more things to see than Athens. Also the people were nicer. Not to say the greek people were mean, Just not as warm and chatty on average. I met some cool people in Greece tho. I think Santorini is a must see because the view is un matched. I went to Capri and Sorrento also. Over all Italy had way more bang for the buck. I desperately want to go back. My friend went to Greece after Italy and agreed Italy was more enjoyed and a little cheaper.
It won’t be that’s crowded if there’s no cruise ships bringing in thousands of tourists into the island. I am not a big fan of cruise ships coz they are bad for the environment and they bring in too many people into a place at one time.
Santorini is amazing. Expensive? Could be but it all depends on your budget. Thira is the place to be. Oía is over rated and not worth the hype that Instagramers have popularized.
of course is expensive and crowded darling! its santorini! what you expected to be??if you dont want many people around and cheaper prices greece has hundrends of islands to chose..just dont go there..and even in santorini if go early summer or september you can find great deals..now if you want to eat and sleep in oia sorry you will pay for it! santorini is magnificent!
whenever i go to santorini I never go to a hotel inside Fira, they are very expensive. I always choose one of the nearby villages, very low price rooms, and Fira is like 10 minutes away with a bus or rental car... In one occassion though, I did find a very very cheap and beautiful room inside Fira with a pool, you just have to search for it and go away from those ....ads... Also if you don't want a hotel, many of the locals rent their own rooms which are very cheap and better option for a low budget I never took a donkey, always walked down those stairs and up with the cable car. Donkies can take that heat and weight, they have no problem with it, I was just a bit scared because of the steep turns going down the stairs. (The cable car is scarier btw lol) About the beaches, yeah, you cannot swim on the side of the volcano, it's extremely deep, not safe. But the other side of Santorini has black sand beaches which are very good. One of them, Monolithos, is very good for children because it is extremelly shallow up to the knee for many many meters in. So, one side of Santorini is for the view, the other for swimming
Just got back from here, u just have to pick a quieter time in time in the year to go-avoid Oia at sunset time and head to the lighthouse on the other end of the island...much quieter to see the sunset. I found it an odd place really, seems very poor in places but then 5 mins away u have villas renting for 1000's of pounds. Am i glad i went..yes..would i return..no. i think once u have seen it and done it there isnt much else to see again
Yeah and it had 1/4 of he concrete or even less than now, its a tourist dump full of ripoff Greeks and annoying tourists. Go to Crete away from the tourist areas loads of great food & some of the best organic red wine Ive drunk & Ive drunk a deal! 😁😁😁
Of course the island offers many choices from top luxurious hotels with suites over 3000 euros a night but with private infinity pool and a killing view but also at the same time there are super economic Airbnb or hostels with no view but you can still have all the basics and sometimes more. Mykonos is by far SUPER EXPENCIVE TO suicidal point. Even locals (I have a myconian buddy) sometimes get angered by certain businessmen that are really making out tens of times overpriced services and goods to other ones. For me Santorini with logical choices is worthing the trip and some days of stay. As you point out you have to explore the web and discover the valued choices. One question. Why didn’t you hit any beach and take a bath. Even in September and October the waters are divine for swim.
Girl, its Santorini. What did you expect it to be, cheap? People spend money on freaken Monaco, Ibiza or you name it. Santorini is 500 times more worth it.
Here is the title of a video with an old song named after the "Imerovigli" that was found hard to pronouncing; Χρήστος Κυριαζής - Στο ημεροβίγλι - Official Video Clip
It's not worth it if you visit during the summer when the island is overcrowded. The rest of the year it's much better, especially during autumn. The sea is still warm for swimming and the tourists are 1/3 of what they are during peak season.
I went in May, was busy, but definitely manageable. Clearly not as busy as it can get in peak Season. People warm and friendly. Really good, informative review ☺️
Don't visit this extremely tourist islands at August and July but Meaby September and May are more cheaper and less people, what you expected this period that you visit?
12:00 The interesting part of the sunset at Oia is not the sunset in itself. Why should that be any different than any other at a westcoast? No - the interesting part is watching the city itself as a backdrop changing color all the time. Consequently you should seek out on the most western slope where there is some ruins. Hate to tell you - but you missed what makes the sunset worth the hype.
I don’t think you put a price tag on one of the most beautiful places in the World. Think of it this way, would you have preferred not going and saving the money…..he’ll no. You’d regret it for the rest of your life. And yes, you had cheaper places outside the two main cities. We just stayed in akrotiri and it was awesome, I actually preferred it because it was more convenient getting to the red and black beaches and other parts of the island….and akrotiri was much quieter…..
