You can use MD50 for sales order specific MRP run..but MD01, MD02 also covers all requirements for the product.

Hi IK, In a situation where one plant is a planning plant (customer orders and forecast maintained here) and the other the production/manufacturing plant (FG are shipped to the planning plant via STO), at which plant should the Strategy Group for MTO be maintained?

If an item is a purchased item (we buy it from an external vendor and sell to customers) which strategy group will you recommend for this item? Currently, it is maintained as strategy group 11 with 30days Min Lot size (to meet full container requirements to ship). Also, this product is about to phase out. How do we manage this so we don't end up with dead inventory?

If you want to plan the externally procured item through PIR’s then you can use planning strategy 10. Planning strategy 11 works in a different way by not allowing the available inventory into the MRP run. If the product is about to phase out and replaced by a new material, then use the discontinuation indicator in the material master. Stocks can be transferred to the replacement material from the date of discontinuation.

Strategy group will default the requirement type, no need for manual intervention in MD61. BSF is for strategy 11, for 10 you will get LSF. Please explore the section 'Discontinued parts' in MRP4 view of the material master.

It is for MTS with strategy 10, you can leave them blank. Same for MTO as well. These fields are to manage the consumption of PIR's those exists in the past or future.
