San Antonio police officers are warning citizens of a recent increase in vehicle thefts and burglaries on the Northwest Side, and in some cases, they think the thieves are using technology to hack their way in.
Simple solution cheap effective and convenient, have a tiny battery cut off power off switch/button in key so it only sends code when powered up. Without battery supply the key is just a metal lump. Car manufacturers take note. Its always the case, in quest for technology implementation simple things are overlooked
The cut off switch on key fob is a good idea but you have to make sure the switch is turned to the OFF position each time it is not being used. I suppose you could fit a push to make switch but you will have to push the button everytime you want to open the car door and you may also need to push this button once in the car whilst starting it. However if the car won't see the keyfob signal whilst driving, it will keep bleeping and warn you that keyless key has not been detected! I suppose you can also have a reed relay switch in the keyfob in parallel with the push switch so once you're inside the car your can place your keyfob in a designated place or compartment in your car which has a magnet that keeps the keyfob activated!
lol 15 year olds been doing this here in australia for a while, it wsan't hard to make one keyfobs need to be within 1 meter from the keyfob, they create a radio signal extender and that's all. literally creates a signal bridge between the fob and the car. the car assumes the key is in proximity and unlocks on touch and even starts, however, it won't start again once it's turned off . but i guess they don't care about that.. so . get a used/broken microwave and cut the power cord, make it where you store your keys and it acts as a faraday cage, and FFS place a Ballard or a metal gate or something with some flood lights if you park outside the house and want to protect the car.
I just don't know why stealing someone's vehicle is not a crime for them. Careless selfish act. There is a special place in hell for these people that do this. 85% mostly never ever get there car back. Fuckong sucks too
This never happened until there were keyless entry systems. It used to be they would have to jimmy the door open or break the window or do something else that would likely damage a vehicle. Now they just need some sort device and they use it to get in, often without even making a sound. It used to be that a thief would have to somehow hotwire a car to steal it. Sure remote keyless entry is convenient but it makes vehicles much easier to steal.
Into a shipping container and GONE over seas. Organized crime has this technology. now. AND, they can pick up the signal from as far as 300' away,,then program a Blank Fob and come back in a day, week or month and TAKE YOUR CAR. Or just wait until you leave and follow you.
My lease was almost finished on my Honda Civic & was looking to get a Jeep, Chevrolet or Ford but all the cars I saw were push start or they had a key but can turn on car from a distance and app control start. I just wanted old fashion that the only way to turn on car is by putting key in ignition but couldn't find new cars with that, luckily Honda still offers basic versions for new 2021 cars like the Civic, CR-V & HR-V, so I stayed with Honda.
If you are worried about keyless car theft, get savvy and learn where the Starter Relay is located and remove it overnight ,to prevent your car from being started.
Manufacturer needs to be sued. This is a fault on their end.. once any car is stolen and especially if the vehicle factory GPS tracking theft system is shut off, the car itself should shut off and light up and scream to alert that it has been stolen.
I've watched 5 different News stations use the same Title, segment set up, dialog and safety tips. It must be hard to write original new segments now a days.
i used to work in local news and it’s not as big of a conspiracy as it seems. basically one station somewhere does a story and if it gets a lot of views/publicity the parent network (nbc, abc, etc) will take the video/scripts and send it to other local stations that it owns to get more coverage. local news is typically a mix of original, local stories and national stories from other stations. it’s not propaganda, it’s just laziness mixed with understaffing.
Always a way to disable the keyless entry. And should be done if cars are sitting outside! Invest in a high security camera with flood lights and alarm so you can easily set a loud alarm off waking the neighborhood to scare them off. Ring makes one I believe. Always hang your keys up in a room away from and entry door as well. :)
You are watching videos on this RU-vid page,, the cctv camera thing has not worked.. the foil wrap does not always work, the foil may actually increase the strength of the signal being transmitted.
@@chitpaul point out WHERE i talk about foil wrap. I’m talking about fob distance to vehicle. If your keys are not within a certain amount of feet from the vehicle, it cannot transmit. & newer technology stops transmission after being too far away/ so many minutes of the fob sitting still. Plus I also said there is a way to disable keyless entry, and at least with GM vehicles, there is. Mine is disabled. Cannot so much as even push the button on the handle to lock my vehicle when my fob is too far away or has been sitting still. Flood lights and cameras help deter thieves, never said it worked 100% but it’s worth the investment. Our security cameras send motion detected alerts to my phone 24/7. Annoying when it notifies me of the wind making a tree move, but gives me a little piece of mind when my vehicle has to sit outside. I’m just listing all the different ways that can help protect, or help deter thieves, but I never said it worked 100%; someone who is very persistent on stealing a vehicle will always find away. Like did you know that even if you put your vehicle in the garage it doesn’t make it safe. Thieves can always find a way to disable even a powered garage door they can make their way in. Thieves will always find a way to steal what they really want. But that’s not gonna stop me to try and protect my vehicle or my property. :)
Our truck was rubbed yesterday night they took extra key fob but battery is not good. We go to dealership to replace but they will be back to steal we are putting cameras in the car to catch thief. Hillsboro Oregon
Oh nice, now I know what to buy online to steal cars... Notice the most replayed part of this video is the part showing the relay device to break into cars...
I was thinking the same exact thing. The car should be the one initiating communication once a button is pressed. Very lazy design that was bound to get hacked.
@@truth4099 : But if you lose your car keys, you wouldn't have to pay hundreds of dollars to get a new one made like you would with a fob. A lost fob car key costs hundreds of dollars to be replaced, if lost, and needs reprogramming. Fobs car keys are a bunch of crap and they keep inventing this crap in order to make more and more money off consumers.
Should be called the careless entry system! The keyfob doesn't transmitted any data until it receives a radio signal first which is only transmitted by the vehicle when you get close to it or touch the door handles, then keyfob transmits it's code to unlock. What the relay theft does is that it boost the Radio signal emitted from the car and then sends this boosted signal into your home, your key fob picks up this signal as it thinks you are close to your car so keyfob then transmits signal back to the vehicle to unlock the doors and also start the vehicle! What a silly design! So if you put your key fob In a metal box or tin foil Then it won't pick up any signals! and it can't transmit.
by far and away the best method is to get an autospark to fit a manual cutoff switch into the ignition system or low tension side of the coil that only you would know its location so even though they may get in the car unless they throw the switch to the "ON" position it would be impossible to drive the car away
Use a Faraday Pouch to block fob signals as shown in this video or you can deactivate / turn off your keyless fob by holding the lock button down while pressing the unlock button twice. This deactivates your fob and can be easily reactivated by pressing either one of the fob lock / unlock buttons once.
Altoid can with some aluminum in it on your nightstand should block the signal. Easy to test, put you key into your metal container and see if your car will crank...
YES THEY ARE!!! And if I ever catch one breaking into my car he will never forget THAT day, one of his body parts will be my souvenir. I legally carry and keep it on me.
An this is why I don't trust technology in cars. Because this stuff could happen. I saw this coming a mile away. I'm sorry that people have got their cars stolen from them hopefully they get them back.
Yes, and not to mention the cost of replacing the fob and getting it programmed if you lose them. An ordinary key is so much better and cheaper. Progress is not always good.
You’re gonna be surprised how easy it is when you have a regular key. Not exactly sure on how they do it now, but pretty sure it’s harder to do / more expensive. I mean the tools they used before are dirt cheap making it more accessible to criminals.
Everyone probably has a microwave in the home placing your keys inside should block the signal I could be mistaken but couldn't hurt....? Can anyone verify if this would work any nerds out there....? Just don't cook your key might be another set of problems....😂
If this keeps happening to newer cars , nobody buy a new car until dealers can figure how to put a stop to this. In one day they will have figured it out I bet u.
Keyless is easily to theft. Why? The key foby even you are using it in a pouch, they are professionals and they can bypass system and can push the button to gain access easily. Do not buy keyless car. This is trash.
Renault and Audi need an original key to remain in car in order to drive the car, u can start it but after u try to drive, it turns back off. Older mercedes i thibk had the best system on the planet, they used infra red laser keys , cant steal the data off from that, it direct connection onöy car door to the key.
😊General Comment: I am happy to know how the cars were stolen so that I can protect myself. My concern is that those videos will show the thieves how to steal the cars and more thieves will increase☹🥴. Do you know when you believe and obey Jesus, you can call on Jesus for help and God will give you peace and help the authorities locate the thieves, God will also punish the evildoers now or one day God will throw them to hell (Lake of Fire) if the thieves do not repent. Most importantly, It is the inheritance of God's kingdom that will last forever. We trust God for everything! Amen! Call on Jesus now to confess your sins and receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
Seriously I've never seen a hacker as MACWILLIAMSTECH He has access to remotely control tracked my stolen car. He has all my recommendation 💯 thanks for the good work
