I have had nerve pain in my shins and knees for 28 years. I strained both my knees all that time ago doing high hook kicks in martial atrs and have been blighted by nerve pain in my knees and shins all this time. No doctor,no physio has ever mentioned this nerve yet it seems to explain finally what is going on. In 5ime l will give these ago but recovering from costcondritis and rib pain is holding me back at present. I wish l live in america so l could visit you guys but l am from the uk but what startling revelation on how the nerves can mimic muscular pain. I have mri scans, doppler scans nothing revealed until this little gem appeared. Much greatfulness for the country of great pioneers. God bless America.
I seriously think this is what’s wrong with my inner knee… been in chronic pain for over a year, mri showed nothing got diagnosed with patella femoral pain syndrome… but everything about saphenous nerve pain is exactly what I’ve been experiencing!
I spent the summer in very flat sandals which I think contributed to this knee and lower leg pain. I tried this stretch just now and felt relief almost immediately. I’ll keep doing this exercise, thank you so much.
OMG, thank you. I've had problems with this nerve for many years. Damage was caused from numerous herniated discs and a slip-disc in my lower back that are now healed. At-home inversion therapy greatly helped. About a week ago, I carelessly fell three feet; straight down, into the open hatch of my front hull on my houseboat. This was not-so-graciously received by my physical vessel, resulting in a severe foot/ankle/lower calve sprain. It resulted in a lot of swelling and bruising that is nearly healed, but now the saphenous nerve won't let me sleep.I'm going to add this exercise to a couple others that I do, plus TENS therapy. I tried your video exercise once, and it helped for about 20 minutes. I'll do this every half an hour for now, and "slack-off" as it improves.Once again; THANK YOU. You ROCK!
Thank you SO much for posting this! I messed up my body by sitting in a wacky chair at work that was too low to the ground. In the process, I managed to inflame this nerve. As soon as I put my foot in position for this exercise, I could tell this was going to help. For the first time in weeks I had some relief from the nerve pain that has been plaguing me. Thank you!!!!!!!
@@kinetichealthonline How many times a day should this nerve flossing exercise be done and for how long. The information would be greatly appreciated.
I'm excited to try this, I've been having terrible nerve pain from my inner left knee all the way down through the top of my left foot. Excruciating nerve pain on top of my foot when I straighten my big toe at times. The nerve pain is awful. It's been consistent for about a week now.
I've been having pain in my legs since I went to vein clinic of America and had vein abrasions done in 2020. I hate I ever had it done. Now I have burning, tingling in my toes, sharp pain
Excellent! Thank you. Just had a quintuplet bypass surgery and the Saphenous nerve was affected. Will gently try this ......Sounds exactly like what has happened to me. Will talk with my Chiropractor first. Thanks again!!! .
Really looking forward to using this! I had a 4 compartment bilateral facsiotomy in June 2016. However, it appears that the saphenous nerve has gotten stuck in scar tissue. No one has been able to help and I found this video while researching. Thank you!1
I am definitely going to try this. I'm not sure what's going on with my leg, but it seems I exhibit some of these issues caused by this nerve entrapment.
I have been undiagnosed for four years until recently my venous dr said The pain I have been experiencing Is probably due to a pinched nerve at my hip. I’ve had 2 EMG’s that reveal nothing, the neurologist didn’t have a clue. Injections at L3 and L4, and L4 and L5 have not helped at all. I am hoping and praying this flossing technique will finally give me relief. Thank you so much!
It's really great to hear from you, @crickethall6585. I understand how challenging and frustrating chronic undiagnosed pain can be, and I'm glad that nerve flossing seems like a promising technique for you. Although EMGs can be very informative, not all nerve irritations show up on these tests, and sometimes, it takes a different approach to find relief. I hope that the saphenous nerve flossing technique offers some improvement. Please ensure you follow the guidance carefully and consider consulting with a healthcare professional who is familiar with nerve flossing. This can help ensure that you’re performing the technique correctly and safely, especially since your situation involves chronic pain. Wishing you the very best in your journey towards finding relief.
my claves and upper legs have been killing me after running and i did this streth and my pain went from a 10 to a 2 and was fine after.....then again i also fixed my running form but this stretch really works thanks for the video
I get nerve pains in my back, inner thigh groin area and back of the knees. Been going to physio for 6 weeks. Haven't been diagnosed with anything yet. The doctor, and three physiotherapists still wont tell me what it is.
Thank you so much for this video Brian! I was incorrectly misdiagnosed with a groin tendinitis and spent 2 months doing physiotherapy on my groin. After not having successful results, I've changed to another clinic and was diagnosed with an inflammation on my saphenous nerve. I'm now doing the exercises above but I'm afraid that, after 2 months doing the wrong stretches, it will take me a lot to recover. I'm still 20 so I can't even understand why I suffer from this specific nerve. Do you think it will take long before I'm able to recover? Thank you so much once again for the video!
Thank you for your comment and for sharing your situation. I’m glad you found the video helpful. While I can't offer specific medical advice online without a physical examination, I encourage you to continue consulting with your healthcare providers, as they are best equipped to address your concerns regarding recovery time, especially after a change in diagnosis. Your youth is generally an advantage in healing, and staying in close communication with your new clinic can provide you with the best recovery strategies tailored for your condition. Patience and adherence to the prescribed therapy are key, and remember, recovery times can vary greatly from person to person. Wishing you a swift and complete recovery.
Dr Brian is your book Release your pain for patients? Can ART be done by the patient itself? Only heard about it. I am not familiar with. Have you published anything about lower body pain (hips and legs pain)?
Can we do this to someone who had Tibial shaft fracture fixated with a rod and has post fracture Saphenous nerve injury and numbness along the course of this nerve ? Will this be helpful?
Obviously, I can not comment on individual cases I have never examined. That being said, I would ask medical practitioner familiar with the case, whether on not this exercise is appropriate. Cheers
I popped my ankle from stretching and it made my whole foot get tingly and numb. I stretched another way and it popped again, and it seemed to somewhat resolve itself.. but I still get off and on numbness and tingling that really freaks me out. Should I try this exercise?
Hi James: I can't make specific recommendations without examining you. If this continues I would recommend seeing a practitioner, and ask them if this exercise is appropriate for you. Cheers
Can a trapped saphenous nerve also cause lateral knee pain? Possibly referred or is this unusual? I have a trapped saphenous nerve and nerve pain in my inner calf/ankle/foot but also knee pain (same leg) which tends to start laterally but move around, only when running and during long runs.
As you probably known the signs and Symptoms of Saphenous Nerve Entrapment are pain on the inside/medial aspect of the knee, pain/tightness on the back of the leg above the knee, including burning, tingling, or numbness into the lower leg. With lateral knee pain I would thinking about other possibilities. Sounds like you need have this analyzed (or get a second opinion) on what is going on. It could be two separate issues. Cheers
