SAR Bloemfontein, Pretoria and Johannesburg Stations, Jan 1981, 720p 

Magnificent footage of both rail and town scapes. I lived one month in Jo'burg in 1984. And my first name is Johannes.

Quite different from 13 years later, I visited Jo'burg in 1994, no steam anymore and armed guards in front of every shop and in the main station. No one bothered to stop for pedestrians having green light in fear of being car jacked. But great footage this, and it shows what I could have seen when I just was born 10 years earlier.

Took the train down to capetown from joburg with a couple of friends in the late seventies,great memories

nixops il y a 10 mois Bloem station and trains will always remind me of the days doing National Service and coming and going on pass. Catching the Bloem train from JHB, and when stationed in Jan Kemp Dorp caching the Trans Karoo and getting off at Warrenton to catch the Mafeking train.

Are you sure this is 1981? With tolley-buses and such looks far more 1960s, unless I am very much mistaken (but then it's been nearly 50 years now).
