Sarah Bareilles is one of the only popular female artists I've ever heard who doesn't sound (or try to look) like a teenager. Her voice actually sounds like an adult woman's voice.

This is exactly how I feel about my father, I can not have a discussion about anything other than something as trivial as the weather without him literally shouting at me if I disagree with him on anything, I’ve literally only just found this song and it puts my feelings into almost exact words,

It has been a decade but this song is still a treasure

Sara bareilles is not like anyone I heard of. She sings about meaningful things, and she is just amazing.

I dedicate this song to the last person I was in love with, who treated me this way and tried to control me, and just wanted to be "best friends"! HA! Lemme tell ya, guys and girls can't be best friends without any romantic feelings at one point...friends, yes of course, but not best friends...it's pretty much impossible (if they're both straight). Losing him as a friend was probably one of the best decisions I ever made. Making compromise between two people and give and take is very different from control! Don't let anyone control you guys. Stand up for yourself :) It's hard, and it took me about 2 years to get out of that "friendship", but I did it and I have no regrets.
