@@russelindia However, there are enough instances where Kishore and other singers sang in the same song and but people to this day, remember that song for his voice only. Yaadon ki baarat, Yeh dosti, Jaanu Meri Jaan, Tum Bin Jaun kahaan, Hum Premi Prem Karna Jaane, Hum To Aapke Deewane Hain are just few of such plethora of examples. And Manas is actually right, no singer other than Kishore Kumar can do proper justice to this song. Not that the other singers are any less talented, but the magnitude he brings to this performance is unparalleled.

@@SarbajitMoitra I already mentioned above that Kishore is popular singer . But we need to understand that we cannot put someone on the pedestal which the person does not deserve. Even Shaan in his interview said that he used to sing Kishore songs in college fest and functions because they were easier to sing. I personally also like many songs of Kishore, but I am not going to be biased. I may like Saeed Anwar or Inzamam as a batsman , but I cannot say they are better than Tendulkar. That is unfair.

सचमुच दोस्तों क्या गाने गाते थे किशोरदा ! हर एक गाना अलगही अंदाज अलगही style , फिर परदे पर कोईभी Hero हो किशोरदा को कुछ फर्क नही पडता था . ऐसे उनके हजारों गाने और हजारों अंदाज/style . किशोरदा के गाने जितने भी सुन लो दिलही नही भरता है , उनकी आवाज मे एक अजबसी जादू थी दोस्तों . किशोरदा जैसे महान विश्वरत्न लाखों सालों मे एकही बार पैदा करते है भगवान इस धरती पर !

All depends how you look at it, in their time others are great:- 1950's to 60's Raj and Shammi Kapoor 1960's to 70's Dillip Kumar and Rajesh Khanna 1970's to 80's Amitabh Bachchan 1980's to 90's Govinda and Mithun 1990's to 2010's Salman and Shah Rukh Khan The two Khans have more number 1 films and financial success than Amitabh, also thaey are still going strong.

That is like suggesting Beckham is a better player than Zidane or Ronaldohino because he has more money. But in my opinion Amitabh is the greatest actor not of an generation but of all time. Amitabhs acting in Zanjeer, Deewar or Shakti to name a few could never been acted better by the likes of Raj Kapoor or Dilip Kumar, who by the way are great actors. In your list you forget to mention Dharemendra, Jeetandra and Raaj Kumar.

@@grewal5534 I have not forgotten them, they were all supporting actors, not main leading actors. The Khans are in a era of universal travel and satellite TV. Bachchan is from the video era. Kumar and Kapoor from the cinema era. That is why the difference in monetary value, but still cant take away the number of hits from them. You may also appreciate the film you mention are the angry young man style. The Khans have action hero and romantic hero persona film under their belt, also their careers are varied, not one type like Bachchan.

Really this dance is absolutely new still today with this great song by respected Kishore kumar. When this movie was released in 1981in KOLKATA I had seen at Cinema Hall Bunty near NAKTALA of KOLKATA. This movie is full of enchanting bewitching mesmerizing songs great story super acting. This movie got huge success and above all some songs of this movie even today same hit as 41 years ago. Really evergreen songs. I purchased two tickets from counter paying just 7/seven rupees. Each tickets was 3.50(three rupees and fifty paise only). Really full of fresh entertainments. No vulgarities. No horrible violences. But great hit. Super duper hit. Then I was only 17 years old.

This is why Rajesh Roshan didn't do justice to his talents/didn't get the opportunities as Laawaris(1981) had 3 big musical hits 5 years from his musical debut Julie(1975) which was a success also. Kishore Kumar sounded brilliantly in Chookar mere Mann ko(with a soft romantic rendition) Tere jaisa yaar kahan(sad soulful rendition) and Zara Zamana Haseeno ka deewana(Energetic upbeat dance anthem-my personal favourite as no one else could have done it justice like KK who sings full throttle sounding awesome in the process) All this under the tutelege of Rajesh Roshan who was young and upcoming threatening the old timers like Laxmikant-Pyarelal, RD Burman and Kalyanji-Anandji. He could have been the first to break their manopoly but instead it was the disco phenomenonal heralded by Bappi Lahiri with his music being instrumental with Mithun and Jeetendra-SriDevi South inspired starters. The decade of the 80s should have belonged to Rajesh Roshan but he underachieved and admitted himself that younger competitors like Anand-Milind then overtook him after 1988. The talent was there just look at how he fuses the sitar with Western instruments which is a beautiful aesthetic sound produced in the last verse. He should have brought melody back then could have got more plump projects in the 90s outside his brothers production house. Such a shame that his talents wasn't properly utilised or given the required opportunities.
