When me and my friend read the series, we thought that chaol was pronounced coal. When we found out how to say his name, we couldn't get over it so we just called him kk or kale.

But only the author's pronunciation is canon.

⁠@@manon-qj1ehbut its not just a French name, it’s also a Welsh name and the Welsh pronounce it the same as the French. Manon is pronounced by everyone (i live in the uk) as how Maas pronounces it. It’s not an accent, it’s supposed to be pronounced like that even in English. If ur parents named u that with the pronunciation Man-in then that’s cool, but pronouncing it as Man-on is not putting on an accent. Not to mention that Maas’s characters names are Gaelic or old English or Welsh like Rhysand, Manon, Nesta, Feyre, Aelin, Amren, Morrigan (okay okay ill stop here 😅) but u get what i mean, the names are from Britain/Ireland and the name Manon is pronounced as Man-on in the UK. Anyway, Manon is a great name regardless of pronunciation.
