this song is so relatable. i used to be on a one sided relationship with a narcissist. I was stuck for so long and was traumatized and experienced all sorts of abuse. He abused me mentally, psychologically, emotionally and verbally. I experienced being devalued over and over. He said words that made me feel i will never be enough and that I am not worth loving... He cheated on me plenty of times... He never showed empathy. I loved him too much that I lost myself....... BUT God set me free!!! I am so loved by Jesus and I am more than enough

I left a verbally abusive marriage 3 weeks ago and good god, this song was what I needed to hear.

This song reminds me so much of my mom! She got the courage to leave my extremely abusive father about a year and a half ago now. She's dodged every obstacle, and every negative word spoken to her saying she'd fail. I'm the oldest of 5 kids and my mom financially provides, homeschools, and plays both roles of mother and father. Now she's about to move us completely across the state of Missouri to start over. She's a literal superwoman! All glory to God!!!

This song makes me think about one of my cousins. His father was abusive towards him and his two little brothers. In the long run, my cousin that I liken this song to got it the worst because he was abused not only physically, but also mentally and emotionally. His (Jerkface) father told him over and over again that he was stupid and that nobody would ever want him. So now, the words that he heard over and over again as a child have became his own words. And the trauma he experienced is still affecting him today. He doesn’t have any sense of self worth and no confidence in himself whatsoever. It’s bad, to the point that his dad’s words have become his own words. Now he’s the one tearing himself down. And it breaks my heart because he is SO much more than what he allows himself to see.
