I think she's one of the ballsiest comedians out there. She does stuff that you can only get away with in animated form - South Park and Family Guy etc..
Well done, Watson. I couldn´t have firgured it out, without you. I´ll hand myself over, to the department of humor. They´ve been searching for me for a long time.
Happy B-day Sarah Silverman. Your beautiful. UR amazing legend. I love Space Jams A New Legacy, Wreck-It Ralph, Ralph Breaks the Internet, Evolution, The Simpsons, Futurama Bender Big Score, American Dad and Drawn Together. Wreck-It Ralph and Evolution is awesome. Love u Vanellope. May the Peace be with u Vanellope, Michelle, Bleh. From Harlingen Texas. December 1, 1970 December 1, 2022 through December 1, 3022
I agree with you about Jasper carrot, but seriously, Omid is hilarious. He has all the British/ethnic/Muslim observational comedy down to an tee. And he has acted in many films all over the world so has a wealth of experience to draw from.
@Paul07791 I'm a Brit too ;-) I was really obsessed with Bill Hicks for a while when I was a teenager, and I have 3 of his albums on CD (recorded in US) and a Channel 4 concert video recorded in the UK, and the interaction between Hicks and the audience is (I think) subtly and noticeably different - even when he's fighting a US audience, BH seems far more comfortable and tuned in than with a positive UK audience.
Yeah for sure, I was just really referring to it in general terms. However I think he was pointing out the same thing I stated that they do always bring it up.
I've changed my mind. Silverman said a joke the other day on Twitter: "Watch out guys, Jesus is coming back. Oops! Jesus is coming on my back*" Such advanced humour.
Indeed friend. And funny nearly asmuch so, sometimes. I speak from Italy, all the cultural limits implied, mut I really enjoyed this video featuring english males clearly enjoying -and teasing- the yankee star
@moonlily1 I think that person was referring to a tongue in cheek piece done by Christopher Hitchens called 'Why Women Still Aren't Funny". Sarah Silverman was in it. Obviously Hitchens was not actually suggesting the title at face value. Still, the person you are replying to did not consider very well the out of context tone.
@glitzy101 Yeah I totally agree. She's "joking" around i.e. you're not meant to take what she's saying seriously. Obviously there are comedians who take it too far, and the joke isn't funny only rude/offensive. But she never goes that far, she toys with the line, but never crosses it.
Sarah is too much, she is a riot. IF you like her comedy check this guy out! Watch Jerry Rio as he does conducts his outrageous "Man On the Street" interviews like nobody else. Probing questions, irreverent, quick witted responses and hilarious observations will keep you entertained. Observe Jerry as he interacts with a never ending parade of sarcastic New Yorkers conducting conversations that will have you rolling on the floor laughing.
He's an absolute hero man ! You should try watching an episode of Extra's - he enlists various celebrities to play satirical characters of themselves; it might make it easier for you to separate it as fictional. Not having a go and saying you're dumb by saying "make it easier" btw, I know cringe-humour's an acquired taste, just a suggestion!
I met Sara Silverman in Manhattan(New York) 1 year ago. She was soo nice. Met her at a coffee shop, drinking with her friend. I noticed her right off da bat, and I said "Are u Sara" she said "I wish, that bitch is hot" hahahaha!!! and we chatted for about 5 minutes, she complimented on my looks, and my hands. For some reason she loves Big hands!! ;)~~~...I wish I can meet her again!!!
this girl has a lot of guts.she completely blew the froth off paris hilton's so called image at an awards show.search for it on youtube.hilton didn't know where to look.its the "paris hilton's going to jail" bit.priceless.
I know ya GASHBIT, when people think of the english the first thing that springs to mind is how funny you all are. Everybody knows that you english are just hilarious. America has MOST of the funniest and well respected comedians in the world. Out of my top 10 comedians 7 are american. Their humour is universal, everyone gets it. But at least you're on par with the yanks when it comes to your politicians and leaders.
What was shocking exactly??? She's just very funny. One of her funniest moments was when she was shaking her head in disbelief that Ricky Gervais and Gordon Ramsey are famous in America...yea...that's so damn shocking.
@WickedJargon It doesn't help women find a mate because many men are threatened by women who are successful. That is a perception that can be changed and is in the process of changing. Men who don't want to perceive women as funny do not want to move on from antiquated gender roles. Pretty much every guy I've ever dated liked me partly because they found me funny. But if I made more money or got more attention than them it might have been a problem.
Think this is the first time I've seen Ross out of his league...her jokes just went over his head. Silverman on 8 out of 10 cats a few nights back was 100 times funnier. She's gotta be the funniest woman alive today, the first I'd actually pay to go see.
@newcoyote Yeah, I never read 'Vanity Fair', it doesn't appeal to me. But there was much ballyhoo made about that article, I believe it was taken to task in 'Bitch'.
Also, despite Americans being taught in school that they live in the most free country in the world, the data suggest otherwise. For example, The Economist's compiled data suggest that the US is ranked #18 in the world for civil liberties and political freedoms, behind a whole slew of constitutional monarchies (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Canada, Australia, the UK, The Netherlands, New Zealand etc). The US talks a good game, but in recent years your civil liberties have been eroded.
The state is called the UK, not England. The US is the only de facto theocracy among the G8 nations - a country where one has to declare a love of Jesus to run for the presidency. It's also much closer to a monarchy than the modern-day UK is, inasmuch as you have a head of state with executive powers, and a country that seems to love dynastic power. (Seriously, you think George W. Bush got to be head of state on merit?) I live in Canada, a sane, sensible, country with a well-educated people.
@JillAngie2 are you watching these youtube videos *just* to slag off the people in them? If so, wouldn't it be advisable to find a better use of your (and mine to be honest) time? If you don't like someone.. fair enough, we're entitled to our opinions.. but why on Earth would you spend your time just watching things that clearly piss you off?! Get some happiness in your life or something!
I watched it on BBC iPlayer because I wanted to watch Gervais, and carried on watching because I'd heard about Silverman being a popular US comedian. I actually found the Matt Damon video and her appearance on Secret Policeman's Ball rather funny. Put on the spot however, she bombed. She speaks too slow so you're waiting for something funny but it.. just.. stutters out and is just not witty/funny at all. Sometimes a simple honest chat and some banter is the best way to get laughs.
No, as it happens, the "I've got nothing on that" was incidentally funny (although I'm guessing she actually did have nothing on that). But after about a whole minute, when she does decide to rip on Kabbalah/Madonna she comes out with "none of the.. big-noseness". Yes, how witty. (By the way, it's spelt "racism". Might want to brush up on the old spelling there "buddy".)
Haha yeah, it was uncomfortable to watch Wossy try his best to give her a special reception to make her sound oh so hilarious, when she wasn't really. And she seems rather slow for a comedian, can't come out with funny comebacks or answers quick enough. One or two here and there, but overall rather uncomfortable and stuttering.
Errm, the letters 'imho' stand for 'in my humble opinion'. Just a word of advice so, y'know, you don't end up looking like a "douchebag" in future. Also I wasn't "claiming" Curb, I specifically said it was US comedy, what part of that couldn't you understand? Bizarre.
lol "you dont GET her comedy" like preference has nothing to do with it. Why are people getting stroppy and defensive? it's COMEDY, if you don't like it go find something that does make you laugh and don't bother reading comments that will piss you off
