Sorry for my ignorance. I find myself enjoying those traditional music, but I have no idea what the music is about. Could anyone please give me a very brief introduction? Is this Islamic music? I really appreciate that.
Dear You should not consider yourself to be an ignoramus. The fact that you are so affected by this work of art shows that you own a beautiful soul! This has nothing to do with religion. This Uzbek classic. This direction is called the classic "Mac» - «MAQOM». More about this area can find out by reading the history of the Uzbek classical music. Sincerely Gafur.
Marcelo In fact, thinking in soviet stereotype is not suitable for understanding Central Asia. Shahmakom is came from Iran, but not iranian in origin. It's originated from microtonal music from India. Shshmakom was always performed on Central Asia and Caucasus. It's clear that Caucasus region has it's own modal music tradition which has a influence on Cetral Asian music too.
