Leeches, Leeches, and more leeches! One from the vault, I recently digitized video of my visit to Sarawak Chamber during a caving trip to Gunung Mulu National Park in Malaysian Borneo sometime back in June 1993. Sarawak Chamber, at the time, was the largest Cave Chamber in the world by area and volume but has since been exceed by the Miao room in China by volume. My guide's was a ranger named Philip (I wonder if he is still there) and he gave me the best advice tromping through the jungle -- don't wear socks so you can spot the leaches before they attach! Definitely the days before gopro, the video was shot to carbide lamps on an old Sony miniDV camcorder. Water levels were low but didn't get any footage of the chamber itself because I left the camera at the waterfall for fear water damage. The chamber was so big and dark, I'm not sure I would have captured much anyway.
