It's probably banned in UK already 😂😂 Brits can censor even OTT. Their Govt. will never apologise. They never had and they never will, no matter how many petitions you file. They still educate their young in a way that they feel they did a service to India and other nations which British ruled. They have no idea that their nation is build on the misery and grief of other nations. We all want cordial relations with Britain and wish them well. But we do need a serious apology. They owe it to us.

Why do we need an Oscar to call a movie great? It's just an American award mostly for English films. I know it's highly respected. But again we don't need an American award to validate our work. What we should have is a highly sort-after and respected award here in India to recognise such work!! And people in the west should be aware that a piece of work is great as it received that award!!
@pranav1256
@pranav1256 2 года назад
Only award i can respect in India is national award, otherwise any big award ceremony is rigged and sponsored by fucking pan masalas. The reason why oscars or Venice film are respected is because the way they celebrate and appreciate a good movie, they view it as a piece of art rather than just some entertainment.

Its not about greatness of the film. Its more about the exposure oscars give to a film to different parts of the world. I dont want Sardar Udham to get an oscar nomination because i want a white man's validation, I want it because it it allows more people to know about it and watch it. It tells an important piece of forgotten history which the world should remember.

Spoliers ahead: The screenplay was so counter-intuitive. Isn't it? Atleast the dumber me thought that they will show the massacre in the first half and then in the second half Dwyer would be killed and that would be cathartic to the audience. But they flipped the chronology. So by the end we forget the Catharsis and only see the massacre for a long time. The director wanted the audience to feel the injustice,brutality, and the evil in our separatist concepts. Hatsoff to screenplay writing.

Vicky is a treat to watch. I was literally in tears during the whole Massacre part shown. And that part justified why Sardar Udham Singh assassinated O'Dwyer. Since OSR might not know about Gandhi. Gandhi made Indians help in fighting against Zulus (in their fight for freedom) in Battle of Bambhata 1907, helping British in South Africa. He called Zulus as Kafirs and degenerates and wanted separate schools for Indians, He wanted separate entrances for Indians and Zulus in post offices. He also downplayed Mohplah Massacre and was okay with Mohplistan. He begged Mewat Muslims who were the originators of Tablighi Jamat (the most violent of them, the British described them (search for Mewat Mini Pakistan, History of Mewat tells why Hindus are in amazing Condition there?)) to return to India after they went to Pakistan He asked Hindus to lay their lives without resistance if Muslims were taking them (during partition). Gandhi experimented with abstinence in the most disgustful way in Sabarmati Ashram. He wanted large scale massacres during Poona Pact, which Ambedkar understood. Gandhi was an Evolue (a person trained by colonials to work for them). Many in Africa are aware of Evolues but not Indians. He made Salt Satyagraha, when people were eating rock salt, to start consuming refined sea salt making us more weak and vulnerable to starvation. Clement Richard Atlee (PM of Great Britain) himself said in 1946 , they were leaving India because of the WW2 returned Navy Mutiny in West coast and rising resistance from INA and returning WW2 Indian soldiers. And there was no impact of Gandhi and the non violent movement on them.

This was a lovely review, Rick and Korbin. Very respectful. I don't mean to sound nitpicky, but Hollywood is not a benchmark for what films should be. If you meant to say that this was close to a Hollywood 'look', I agree with you. But what films need to be is cinematic. And plenty of Indian/"Bollywood" films are that. India doesn't need to alter its storytelling to become a Hollywood clone. Both are wonderful industries and have their own place. Again, this comment is not here to demean your video or efforts in any way. I genuinely appreciated and enjoyed this review. You have my upvote. Cheers! :)

As far as I read history big Indian freedom fighters like bhagat Singh, Sardar udham Singh and many foreign Indians fighters used communist Party just for financing and support but they never become part of communist agenda. Same way Subhash Chandra Bose and INA use fascist Germany and japana for support but never become part of their ideology. Their ultimate goal was India's Independence. With all due respect, I think that Brits don’t need to apologise for The Massacre. Coz this will just give them a chance to get over it and say “Yeah, we have apologised and we are sorry. So let’s get over it now.” Instead they should let their younger generation know about these incidents as they occurred instead of it just being a footnote. The perception of India should be corrected. Western world only knows about incidents where they suffered and are mostly ignorant to the oldest civilisation of the world. So instead of an apology, acknowledgement will be good because TRUTH ALONE TRIUMPHS.

@OSR So, glad you guys have liked this so very much! I loved this movie. There have been few movies that have presented the Jallianwala Baugh Massacre, sensitively and poignantly, but they were mostly presented as just as the spark that ignited the fire in the main characters' revolutionary zeal. But this is the first time, we get to experience the gruesomeness of it all for a prolonged period of time along with the main character, as if we were in it together. I could not stop weeping. Since you have been talking about Japan, I would request you both to watch Tokyo Trial about the Nuremberg-like trial that was taken up in Tokyo against the Japanese and their war crimes during WW2. It has Irrfan Khan in it as the Indian judge representing India since there was a requirement of a representation from one of the British colonies in the panel of judges who were presiding over the trial against the Japanese. It is quite an eye-opening mini series on Netflix and it questions this very attitude of the Allied Forces' duplicity when it came to war crimes. Again watch Madras Cafe by Shoojit Sircar :)

Indians asking the British Govt to apologize for Jallianwala Bagh, I mean yeah sure, but what does it change? Indian government today is betraying the legacy of these very heroes and jailing those very activists who are following in the ideological footsteps of these heroes. In terms of how the global economy is shaped, this government is working for western capital only, except now we have some brown Indian men added to that list (exactly what Bhagat Singh talks about). It honestly doesn't matter if Britain apologizes or not. What matters is Indian people gaining political consciousness of their continued exploitation, abolishing the system that causes it, and punishing the politicians and billionaires who benefit off this system. I think that would be a true tribute to these heroes.
