Rigtig fin video! Er du norsk? Desværre fik jeg aldrig selv dokumenteret 737-500 i SAS-regi :(

This particular flight occured on October 5th 2012. I'm not sure for how long these planes will be in the fleet, but they will be phased out soon and most likely be replaced by 737NGs.

Excellent quality video! For my taste the pre-takeoff part is much to long and actually boring. Why not just dedicate one minute to the instructions and then start once the plane begins to roll.

I think the video is just right balanced. The start up procedures make you feel the atmosphere when the flight is just about to begin. Otherwise it would feel like some kind of hurry.

Not to insult Swedes but why is there one route for 40 minutes and another route for 50 minutes? Is this island hopping or are the roads so bad its not convenient to be on the ground in that area? Tell me.

Because this is in Northern Norway. Tromsø-Bodø is 550 km by road, and Bodø-Trondheim is 705 km. The area isn't exactly heavily populated, and add on top of that the topography with fjords and mountains, it takes forever to drive a car. Travel by plane is very convenient and the most popular mode of transportation. =)

Thank you that answers my question. Based at KRNO in the United States its 830 KM to Delta Airlines western regional services hub of KSLC. The major highway is certainly not northern Norway but it is not that heavily populated either and can be rough. Still, its a scheduled flight of an hour and a half so for some reason its very likely that there are considerations that we have here in the United States over air routes than you have. Then again, if you are asking me if I would feel safe doing a 705 km trip through northern Norwegian countryside you describe as being inadvisable to non-locals I would agree I would be willing to spring for a 50 minute plane flight. I would be curious if one passes through the main commercial hub of northern Norway during that flight. I would love to know.

Now I don't know how the weather is usually in Reno, but you also have to take that into consideration when looking at Northern Norway. Both Bodø and Tromsø, the two commercial hubs up north, are both above the arctic circle, and for most of the year there is quite a lot of snow. Considering also the terrain and all the ferries one has to take, plane travel is simply easier. =)

Thank you. You would find Reno's weather cold in the summer but mild winters. Bodo's Kommune would say that Reno is about 20 times as dense as Bodo but we can live with it very well. We have not discussed how fast cars travel in that region but here around central Nevada and north central California we can mow down a 550 km roadway in about 5 hours flat if you are prepared to just drive through without breaks or restrooms. How long would it take for you to drive that far around Bodo?
@airlinetraveller

From Tromsø to Bodø it is about 9 hours by car, and that is the fastest route which includes ferries. From Bodø to Trondheim it is about 10 hours and 30 minutes. =)
