I can’t explain the importance of this mix in my life. So happy to see how many other people know it. It’s always felt very personal to me. Almost as if I’m the only one who gets it. I've probably listened to this about 1,000 times since it was released. Collected most of the tracks on vinyl.

4:05 to 6:45 is the greatest transition I've ever heard in my life. The drop at 6:45 is legend and I remember it to this day since I first bought this cd.

Speechless doesn't begin to cover it. This is hands down the best album of music I've ever heard! Excellently paced, flawlessly mixed, and there isn't a time that I listen that it simpley doesn't overload me with audio/tactile synesthesia.

I have been a part of the 90’s rave music scene in Florida ever since this cd was released and even danced with DJ Sasha. This is the ultimate listening trance cd ever recorded! If you don’t get (understand) the impact of this cd in the dance/rave community, get on board!

I could put this on repeat and listen all day long and it will Never get old and there’s always something different that I hear throughout. What a masterpiece 🫶🏼💪🏽👏🏽🙏🏽

Oh man oh man! No way to explain the goosebumps I have right now. Renaissance, Norther exposure, Global Underground! That IS class. Its not the past, for me this is eternal.

Sasha & Digweed were the absolute leaders in tune selection. Each of the northern exposures produced absolutely golden segments! Timeless. So many emotive segments you just play on repeat. Hard to replicate in there modern era.

The transition from Cycles of time to Dammerung is absolutely mind blowing.

If God was into mixing I think this is how he would mix....simply the best.

So many memories. Driving along deep forest roads, with gorgeous scenery to die for, as a taxi driver delivering a package to Ystradgynlais, Swansea from Wrexham. This as loud as loud can be .... wonderful !!!

I can remember seeing them so many times live at Simon's in Gainesville and just being blown away by the mastery. I love that I can be 10 years sober and listen to this music and still experience the connection to the beats.

This was something very special to me and in fact it in some ways indescribable to others who were not Around during those awesome years. kind of difficult to put into words how much this cd means to me. Sucks I have tried to buy it and am never find it. This cd is my dark side of the moon much love for posting this

this mix has everything.. great vocal tunes,build ups/breakdowns,breaks, snarling acid, trance. it's got the lot..not many djs can take you on a proper journey,but this is sublime

I've been attending and producing raves since 1986. started in Miami, Tampa, and my all time favorite spot was Firestone in Orlando. But this is, has, and always will be the most beautiful and precise mix ever. From beginning to end... And for the one guys comment... I've felt like I was in Heaven quite a few times with this gem man. 47 years old and I still love to get down.

I bought this and Expeditions in CD format from HMV in Bromley. It was 98 or 99 and I was working in the ad sales team at Loaded magazine in London. These two albums never left the company car. I drove anywhere and everywhere to these sounds. I'd go for a drive to nowhere just so as to blast them out sooner than annoy my girlfriend and neighbours back in the flat. We were clubbing every weekend in those years. Bagleys. The Cross. Club UK. Leisure Lounge. Satellite Club. Strawberry Sunday. The Fridge. The 414. The End. SW1 (later Pacha). Club SE1. Heavenly Social@The Gallery. Ministry of Sound. It was all high-end clubbing with quality mixing and sounds. But nothing quite so house-dub-cool as these lads. Only Paul Trouble Anderson, Seb Fontaine and Eric Morillo come to mind as DJ's I danced to live on set with a quality threshold anywhere near. Wow! What a privilege to witness all of that! Quite simply the best mix the two have ever done in my opinion. Singularly I think Sasha takes the edge with his legendary Global Underground albums and his personal work but this in my opinion is the best side of a cd album they have ever done. Mixing, tune choice, smoothness, and class are impeccable, no one can come close to what they have achieved when it comes to mood mixing, several waves of goosebumps have descended upon me in the last 70 minutes or so!

YES! I wrote my Ph.D. thesis to this album. It was like a portal for creativity, and I wrote the whole thing in about three weeks to these beats.

I've listened to all their releases and seen them live playing together and separately on countless occasions. Gotta say this mix is their finest shit. 1st time ever listening to this gem and i'm speechless.

I remember when I saw them play at The House of Blues, New Orleans LA. that I saw Digweed mixing 3 vinyls at the same time. I couldn't keep track on what he was doing, but he was a machine at the mixer board... it was like seeing a scientist run sophisticated machinery for an experiment... and that is what he was just exactly doing... creating new sounds/mixes with pure artistic precision and mastery. I realized then the level of talent it takes to have a name like Sasha or Digweed.

fuck me brings back the 90s with a nostalgic lump in my throat. I've still got the original release from 1997 when dance and clubbing was still fresh and meant something - cannot believe its FIFTEEN years ago.

This is THE progressive album IMHO. I have yet to find such a seamless and well thought out mix of breaks, trance, and house music. Some of the most obscure tracks you'll ever lay ears on put together in an hour of flawless musical bliss.

There are mixes and then there are works of art. This is a work of art.

Run to it everyday. No exception.

I feel like all the uploads of Northern Exposure have comments that share similar love for these mixes. I can't explain how, but these mixes are so important to me. NE1 is burned into my memory so much I can almost predict every transition lol. Listened to it on my favorite hiking trips, late at night tripping by headlamp, on dark long road trips, it's just perfect for journeys. I was born in 2000, but ppl who listened to these when they were new have said similar things, I hope S&J are proud to have made these They always feel fresh, modern, even cutting edge. These mixes are easily my favorites, far above anything else I've heard, and an anchor for why I continue to listen to electronic.

This is my all time favorite cd. Arguably the best EM cd ever released. The greatest adventure I've ever been on EVER. I can't tell you how many times I've bought this cd, simply because I was always giving it away.

This is one of the best ever. I used to listen to this driving out to B.C in my Mk1 Golf GTI. It was a ritual. This and 'West Coast Edition' on repeat. Those were the good ol' days.

I forgot just how f***ing good Sasha and John Digweed were. The last two tracks are so beautiful and I used to listen to them over and over in the 90s in college. Just hearing them now brought a tear to my eye, so beautiful.

I still remember when I first heard this mix. I was in college around 2006/2007 sitting at my computer. I had recently downloaded FLAC versions of this album and all of Sasha and Digweed's famous albums from Renaissance through Expeditions. I got them from the private torrent tracker OiNK, which was shut down some months later. I was going through them all in order. With my headphones on playing it at low volume while doing my thing, at some point, maybe a quarter of the way in, I had to stop... "Whoa, this is good," I thought to myself. It took my breath away. Ever since then this has been my all time favorite mix. I doubt anything will ever take its mantle. - John Brier P.S. I saw this set live in Orlando in 97 or 98. It was the best live set I ever saw Sasha serve up. This set at sunrise? Yes please, more of that.

Every time I lose interest or need inspiration on what it takes to be a good DJ and/or make a good mix, I listen to the Northern Exposure compilations. My only complaint is that unless you have the vinyls and are a DJ-you don't truly comprehend the mastery and sophistication this series entails. This series even from a historically point of view is ground breaking. This is when progressive breaks were in their infancy, trance wasn't a popular genre, & many DJ's didn't cross genre boundaries.
