Thank you, man! When and where did you see the Ramones?

@@DjSashaRocknroll July 18th 1990. It was the Escape from New York tour. Blondie, The Tom Tom Club (that was Talking Heads without David Byrn) they played all Talking Heads tunes. They burned the place down with Life During Wartime. Ramones played last. Gotta tell you it was an outdoor venue and July in Cincinnati can be brutal. They never took those jackets off! I’ve seen tons of bands. Social Distortion 8 times, Springsteen a bunch, Nirvana. Even back in the early 80s I saw Fleetwood Mac, Linda Ronstate, Jackson Browne, U2, the Police 3 or 4 times, Joan Jett a bunch. We’d go see bands we’d never heard of just to be around music. Took my 2 sons to Dropkick Murphy’s when they were in middle school. Alright, enough from the old man. Stay cool. Keep fighting the good fight. It’s not naive to think rock n roll can still save the world. The governments certainly aren’t gonna do it

@@teleman2157 cool, thanks so much for sharing this stories/memories! What's about Iggy Pop? The Clash? Have you ever saw them live? I saw Iggy about 5-6 times in different places all over the world. One time even with The Stooges (it was 2006 or 2007 reunion tour)

@@DjSashaRocknroll Never saw Iggy or The Clash. Saw Butthole Surfers, Stone Temple and Flaming Lips at a demolition derby track. Got caught in a riot at a seven Mary three show. If you have time do some research on The Jockey Club in Newport, KY. That was the only punk venue outside NY or LA. I started going there about 1983 or so. I would’ve been 17. I had some good friends whose older brother was instrumental in booking the bands, printing tickets and everything else. The guy would later start Snare and the Idiots. We had our own punk revolution in Northern Kentucky. That’s where I learned about Sham 69, Buzzcocks, Pistols, Iggy, Ramones. I can’t remember who else played there. Hell, I can’t remember most of the bands I saw there. The Jockey Club helped put punk on the map in those kinda early days. It’s really well known in kinda an underground way. If there is such a thing. Ask me anything about those days. I’m happy to share any info. In the second band I was in we covered Brand New Cadillac, the Clash version. We were terrible but we got free beer and some skanky girls were always sniffing around. I have been pretty lucky. I’ve seen some crazy stuff. In, ‘92, I think we were driving to Dayton, OH to see Nirvana. It’s about an hour or so away. That day was the only time in history that Cincinnati had a blizzard on Halloween. Took us almost 3 hours in the car and if you’ve ever changed a flat tire in a blizzard you’d know the only thing that can make you right is loud guitars, Cobain’s howl and a bunch of cheap beer.
