Thanks for sharing! We will be reading through this next year with my kindergartener. Since there are 18 chapters I plan to do since twice a week. Our schedule would look like: Week 1: First day we will read first 1/2 of chapter. Second day read supplemental book and do demonstration. Week 2: First day read second 1/2 of chapter. Second day read supplemental book and place animal in appropriate habitat on poster board. That way, we can go slow and the Volume 1 would take us the whole school year.:)
I think that is a fantastic idea, great plan! I think you will really enjoy it that way. We have actually done the same a few times during the year too! Thanks for watching and commenting
I just found this curriculum and it feels very Charlotte Mason style which is what I'm looking for. Thank you for giving an honest review. I'm already excited for next school year and this one is not even done yet lol.
Does this touch on Ecological concerns or Endangered Species and Human Interaction? I'm trying to get a sense of what I would need to add in to the curriculum. Thanks!
Each chapter covers a habitat (rainforest, grasslands, arctic tundra, etc) but doesn't delve too deep into the ecological concerns with the exception of the rainforest. I remember the twin came across a company that was trying to destroy too much of the rainforest during that chapter. I do not recall anything on endangered species. So you might want to find additional resources to cover those topics if you used this program :)
Hello there! I wondered the same thing. I have not used the lap book but I did get to preview it for Volume 2. If your 1st grader is really into crafting (and you are too) it would probably be a great fit. Towards the end of volume 1 I ended up giving my 1st grader the logbook to color on while I read. She colored the main scene for our habitat and/or the animal sheet we were reading about. That ended up being perfect for us. Hope that was helpful 😊
