I think this scene has much more meaning than people give credit for, I believe that Shisui intentionally made Sasuke say that Itachi was stronger than him, and Itachi noticed that during 2:24. Maybe Shisui wanted to say that he believes Itachi is strong and wants he's friend to admit it.

What not many people realize is why Shisui values Itachi so much. It's explained in his novel that he and his parents would go on missions together because all 3 of them had the Sharingan and would perform threeway-Genjutsus that would ensnare entire batallions. Shisui's father would make the enemy think they were winning, while Shisui's mother would make the enemy think they were being attacked from behind. The mass confusion would allow Shisui to use Body Flicker to take them all down while paralyzing the platoon leader with his own Genjutsu (not Kotoamatsukami). They were such a revered team that the Hidden Cloud sent a suicide squad to take them out. Unfortunately, it worked, and Shisui's parents sacrificed themselves to save him. It's what awakened his Mangekyou. A few years later, he met Itachi and Sasuke and looked at them like his own family. Even Itachi's parents loved him as though he was their own. Also, I made this entire thing up.

At this point shisui was the strongest uchiha. He was even more stronger than Fugaku. Just that he was alone and very kind he never thought to kill to become stronger. He was more powerful than Itachi and rest of his clan and Itachi knows that.just like Minato shisui also got the title to run away if you see him on battle field.

Lucky for Itachi that he befriended and looked up to someone like Shisui. If it wasn't Shisui, Itachi would be a different character
