Most hard drives have a TVS diodes to protect HD's from transient voltages. Just removing it fixes it. Some also have a fuse or 0ohm resistor which would need to be shorted to get the HD working again. So remove big black and short the small black to get it working again. 90% of HD problems fixed.

What if the motor control ship starts overhearing as soon as you plug the hdd, is that also just a tvs diode issue?

Its been a while I played with drives. But desoldering the big black blocks does no damage as they only short the power lines when fused but the power supply itself will shut down if thats the problem.. Could be a stuck motor.. in which case open the case and spin the platter but then the drve becomes useless but could get the data off..

ye capacitor nai hai bhai ye diod hai and diod me oneside reading hota hai capacitor check karna hai to black probe ground karo and red se capacitor ka dono point check karo koi v reading or beep aaye to capacitor faulty hai

My hdd pcb is not working, not spinning the hdd. I've checked with multimeter and I find out the Q4 3pin diode in the middle is 0,0001 and beeping noise so I have to change that diode and that's it? the 2 other leg is fine just on the middle one is beeping.

How do you know the resistors what their resistance is because I think they are not listed on the printed circuit and the diode is not listed either, is it possible to connect normal diodes and resistors? What is the power that can go through them? Thanks

u can buy an faulty hard drive for market but must chack its circut same as your drive and using smd machine to change any kind of capaciter/resistance etc.

Nice video sir. mere pas hgst 2.5 inch 500gb hard disk he. power on karne pr spin hoti he windows start bhi ho jata h pr 10 minutes baad pc freeze ho jata or hard disk bahut garam ho jati he. iske baad hard disk spin karna band kr deti h. uske baad pc restart karna padta h thandi hone pr hard disk fir chalne lagti h plz give solution

Hi I have a hardisk with the Rom (Bios burned - in the sense that PCB's rom is missing) Reason I had buying a card to do the swapping but the repairman lost the original card) Do you think it is possible to recover my Seagate Hardisk? In short, the HD has never been opened and card that has does not have the original BIOS I feel the engine turns but it doesn't see any data windows with new pcb donnor Thx Franco Italy.

without bios chip it is possible with a Platter swap to a Healthy drive. Difficult and risky. Or you can order an identical pcb and pray it will work.
