Fun fact this was based on the real life auction Ellen Barkin had when her husband dumped her before the payments went up in her prenup...so she had the auction which set records because some jewels were created by JAR...a very sought after jewelry designer..
I don't know about divorces or prenups, but could she have just disappeared and kept moving around on him so she couldn't have been served divorce papers. And maybe waited him out until she passed the time threshold?
@ziba - No. Making silly sex jokes IS childish, hence "grow up." It's juvenile. Once you become a grown up you will understand why. You're a kid now so you you don't understand.
I absolutely love this auction scene from all of the movie, except for the Anthony and Stanford's scenes of course. Samantha always says something that brings a smile to my lips and that I can agree with.
I mean 50k for a ring that she'll probably have for the rest of her life is a way better deal than almost half of that price for a room you stay in for just a single night lol
This scene is exactly why I went ahead and bought myself the same ring Anna Nicole Smith got. It’s not real, but to the untrained eye, you would think I’m RICH! And… I always remember Samantha… she wanted that ring for her! And it doesn’t mean saying his name whatever more times a day than her own
Someone said about Carrie "horse face" and I laughed so hard! But seriously, aside the looks-which she is persisting the whole show and life, how come Samantha wasnt the main role? She is just owning every scene, every dialogue, the whole show! The energy, character, class, style and gorgeous feminine powerful energy unlike needy, envious, desperate, unresponsible, selfish and lazy Carrie.
The originally asked the actress who plays Charlotte as Carrie but she declined because of the nudity. So they asked Sarah Jessica Parker who also didn’t want the nudity but they folded this time around (so annoying!) that’s why Carrie is never nude, even in bed. The mAin character in a show called sex and the city is NEVER NAKED. its funny how the viewers never noticed that
@@ScratchthechalkBoardit only proves that you don't need nudity to make a good show, even if it's centered around relationships and sex. Many showrunners should learn from it.
Samantha is wearing vintage Thierry Mugler fall/winter 1989 prêt-à-porter… it’s absolutely stunning on her !! I have a similar jacket/blazer in a blueish purple!! 💛💛
This thread is a good indicator why kids shouldn't be on the internet. Grow up. All of you. They're numbers. If you allow your emotions and your glands to rule your minds you're in for a world of hurt when you grow up.
If all this was jewelry he had given her as a gift for throughout the decade, even if he kicked her out, isn’t the jewelry still hers? Gift is a gift 🎁 Anyone who’s a lawyer here?
Yeah, she sold all his presents in a public auction, to embarrass him. And get a lot of money for pieces, she probably didn't want to wear anymore anyway.
As a Hollywood agent/spin doctor, she’d take 15-20% of all her clients earnings. So if she’s got 20-40 clients all earning anywhere between a few thousand to a few million per job, her cut wouldn’t be bad for her bank balance.
Lol yea these places where not and are not in my ecosystem its not me but the story would be interesting to the old me trying to find my husband lol way back then lol I’m gone now
After rewatching this, i just dont know why i felt sad about the girl who made the auction and in word of her friend "she dont have anyplace to live"... come on! she just sold 1 ring for 50k!, and the place is full of her jelwery, she could buy a house with 4 rings -.-"
As a woman, have to be always well prepared, just in case a bad thing happens. Human being is do unreliable. If I were the lady who made the auction, I would make sure I have enough money in my own bank account or have a vacant apartment, just in case the guy break up with me for someone else.
@@emilyniew samantha behaved that way in her personal relationships because she had been hurt, they made that very clear in the show. And of course she judged her sexual partners for example the guy with the bad taste in sperm or the guy that shopped from the kids department, or even smith in many ways and let's remember how obssesed she was with richard, she even put a wig on to follow him. And let's remember how she judged charlotte when she didn't have sex with trey or even miranda when she wasn't waxed in mexico. Of course there were many times she was a good friend but so were the other three. All I'm saying is that none of them was perfect just like all of us.
You're right. Many people idealize Samantha and see her as à goddess. I think it's because she has à strong personnality, she is beautiful and funny lady. But people are not always objective about her.
The reason why people judget carrie cause she often makes bad decisions in life and stubborn who argue with her friends who disagree with her bad decisions and then often yaking about her this and that but still committ mistakes over and over. On samantha yes she can be vulgar but samantha is an exaggeration of a woman whos sexually liberated and a woman with a male attitude kind of and its what makes it great about her cause she is a type of friends who you dont find annoying and the most reliable one you could call to.
Then wait till you see "and just like that", I thought it couldn't get worse after those movies.. but omg. The sequel was an absolute disaster. Omg I was literally crying seeing what they had destroyed with this iconic series. And now the movies do even look much better.
