In high school, me and a friend wrote an angry letter to our school complaining about all the things we enjoyed, public skateboarding, loud music, rowdy behaviour etc, because we were certain our principal would read it out at assembly and shame us, and it worked like a charm. I learned all I needed to know about how the moral busy-bodies worked when I was 14.

I've been saying similar for years: critical thinking and HOW to think needs to be taught to kids, not only WHAT to think. And in the age of social media, kids needs to be taught how to improve their emotional IQ and how to communicate effectively. I watch the most appallingly idiotic, vicious arguments online all based on people misunderstanding text. It's one thing to misunderstand something or someone, but entirely another to be so nasty and self-assured in delivering a hasty and inappropriately aggressive response. I worry about people in 2020.
not just dutch universities most of them . here in the U.S. all our big ones are teaching this woke bs. they just don't want the kids to learn to think or speak for themselves. they are telling them you can only think like we tell you or we'll make you suffer ( in what ever form they decide at the time). and it's trickling down to our public school too. really the schools are lucky i don't have any kids in them, they'd have hell to pay, i'd be all up in their dodo.
I really respect Andrew Doyle and would love to one day sit down and speak with him for an hour or so. Hopefully one day he might tour the East Coast of Australia and do a Q and A spoken word tour.

The case of Harry Miller, aka; Harry the Owl, ended up being such a well known one, so widely referred to and shared online because Harry (in the original Triggernometry interview in particular) came off EXACTLY like someone we all know. A friend's husband, a favourite manager at work, friend's older brother, that super nice professional you encounter in some aspect of your life, a really lovely neighbour down the street-- even your own self. That charisma and personality of his was a really winning element in his ultimate victory, not just legally, but in the court of public opinion.
"Crimes can be preceded by non-crimes"...when I heard that I immediately thought of an analouge. I wonder what people think. If police "randomly" stop black people to check what they're doing, or stop groups of black kids to make sure they're not up to trouble, and make them separate and go home, you could defend that behaviour by saying "well, they maybe didn't commit a crime, but crimes are often preceded by non-crimes, so we wanted to take measures." And yet most sane people agree that if there's no reason for suspicion other than the color of their skin, that's wrong and unfair. This is just *yet another* example of how the far left is employing exactly the same disturbing tactics that they claim to be fighting against.
The most shocking thing of all is that people accused Doyle/McGrath of using strawman arguments! As in, the critics all knee-jerk in disgust, asserting that 'these sorts of SJW caricatures don't exist in real life etc'. Are they deaf and blind?!
Very well explained Mr Doyle. I wonder if anyone will be brave enough to do the same with the 'climate change is going to lead to the end of the world' warriors or is that just a step too far for satire? It certainly would be interesting to observe the reaction!

Are you are alluding to AOC's statement that "the world will end in 12 years if we don't address climate change". That statement was obviously hyperbolic and was not intended to be literally true. Besides which, AOC's statement does not represent the view of the world's climate scientists which is along the lines of "we have 12 years to prevent warming by 1.5 degrees C and that there a big different in the effect of 1.5 degrees C of warming compared with 2 degrees C of warming". On the other hand, if you are implying that climate change is a hoax, then the hoax is on you because, according to the people who would know, the climate scientists, climate change is real.
Andrew is far, far too concerned and upset over the far-right in the UK. The 7 or 8 actual far-right people in the UK (out of a population of over 66 million) are absolutely no threat or influence to anyone. There are probably many times more individuals in the UK that think that all MP's should be butterflies. From an American point of view, there are virtually no mild conservatives in the UK either. Nearly all of the Tories would be considered Democrats in the U.S., and EVERY UK newspaper and tv news program would be considered left wing to rabidly left wing.
Great presentation of things: however, I personally strongly reject the concept that ‘woke like people are generally well intentioned’. I do not know if this wholesale ‘discount’ if granted to them by Doyle due to actual belief in this being true, or as he feels it would be a far reaching step acknowledging that many of them ARE actually pretty evil. I come from a low middle class background, though thankfully from a society where class background is less solid in its effect of one’s life, than in the UK. I gained a prominent managerial position in a firm where ‘born into class/money’ figures are quite dominant. One topic where I could afford being open in my arguments/criticism over my colleagues through the years was the whole issue of ‘being green’ or ‘ecological’. All upper class/big city/private school people have adopted a language of their own which made them look like the ‘greenest’ people on earth, and at the same time dismissing anyone else in a vile way. This while they were by no means ‘ecological’: that is - they constantly consumed and travelled. Any action of redecoration (home, garden), event preparing, travelling for vacation and other things - was always involving an extensive consumption of ingredients, raw materials and energy. Their homes/event locations were air-conditioned/heated up to a level of comfort one would expect from an extravagant story by Suetonius about a crazy Roman emperor. And yet - they constantly ‘made up’ new rules that would make their detailed actions that form their life style as ‘ecological’. Now this was never about ‘global warming’ type of debate (I actually have no firm opinion about the issue) but a very detailed opinion I had about the dissonance created between their life style and ‘theological text book’ dogmas they adopted so to make it look actively ‘great for the cause of all’. This and their own violent dismissal of the rights of masses of poor/low class people - who (as I also demonstrated) may have had minimal awareness to any technicalities related to ecological issues - but were just consuming far less, exploiting much less and using resources in a much more efficient way - thus being ‘green’ in a passive way. When strapped them from their artificial shield of high words and pompous dogmas - they never ever admitted anything I may say is correct but rather showed an uglier side well hidden untill then - an authoritarian aspect which was based on a simple notion of ‘how dare you strip us from the power to be right’. Now what I describe here had happened about 5 times over a time span of 10 years. I never meant to escalate things, and I know as a fact many of the people who I opposed liked me in general. Yet their reaction exposed, I believe , the fact they are not well intentioned. Not open for discussion. Will not give away any ‘privilege’ and are, I concluded, quite often unable of leading any move towards any type of equality. The same dynamics also occurred with other type of debates - but I always take the ‘Micro Ecology’ example as the most revealing one. This is because it was a case where there were the lowest barriers possible preventing from one to back off and admit he might have been wrong. Acknowledging that you are not a green as you thought does not make you a racist/homophobe: you can easily get away with such a confession. Yet they never did it.

I just looked at the book reviews on Amazon and have seriously no clue which ones are sarcastic and which ones are sincere. Either everyone in Britain just knows the exact amount of sarcasm that is ideal or there are few who bought Titania's book seriously.

Brilliant stuff. Comedic ridicule is the only weapon we have against the woke. The hope is that at the very least it'll foster self reflection, at best it'll lead those in question to hang themselves in shame.

Why newspapers do that? it is called 'engagement', which is marketing-speak for the number of replies they get in the comment-section below the article. That is their only way to get some traffic. It is not even about 'woke', it could be any topic that has a clickbait title and gets readers outraged. Often the 'newspapers' have a few trolls in the comment-section to keep the conversation going.

satire requires hyperbole. "why do a number of people get angry" because you only make comments on the mild side of the thing you are satirizing. it would be like trying to satirize christians by saying you are going to church, or muslims by claiming you pray to mecca. the milque toast nature of your content makes it seem sincere. like a student saying they try to do their homework during other classes.
As much as there are many good points here. Playing the 'loss of free speech' card is a bit disingenuous when youre stood in front of a microphone/have a book out/championed by a mainstream paper (the sun), a bit of a stretch to then claim you're being kept quiet... Seems like an even playing field.
Wokeness doesn't 'feeed' "neonazis" but vice versa - the far right emerges in response to the far left (aka communist ideology and takeover of society) Doyle is part of part of the problem but is a more delusional woked-one) Doyle should look up what type of books were burned in the famous book burnings (spoiler: child porn, porn, gay porn, promotion of transgenderism, feminist and abortion aka communist propaganda - the same as the 'woke' messaging that is coming from the left right now) The 'far right' or 'white supremacy" that is emerging is made up largely of displaced liberals who realize their treasure liberalism has been destroyed and what has taken its name is something that will destroy the West. Doyle can't seem to see this.
