Getting your first aluminum build up and running in Satisfactory is a difficult challenge. This video will break down each stage of the production chain with some tips along the way so you can design and build your Satisfactory factory efficiently without your aluminum production stuck!
It is really easy for you to get your excess water from aluminum scrap all backed up and grinds your whole factory to a halt. In order to produce the aluminum ingots, aluminum casings, and alcad aluminum sheets that you need, you have to keep your aluminum design producing at 100% efficiency with no blockages.
Once you automate your Satisfactory aluminum production, you can finally use Mk 5 belts. I use Mk 5 belts like hot sauce....I put them on everything. It will make your playthrough so much easier.
This is a perfect guide for beginners in aluminum in Satisfactory.
Let me know what you think of the video in the comments below. Thanks for watching!

Jeez man this game terrifies me. I’m barely half way done with automating coal power and knowing what I have to do later makes this game very stressful sometimes. I still have to clean up my first spaghetti factory and I have no clue about where or how to build factories like this. Just glad there are great RU-vid’s like you to guide us through it. 🙂

wow man what a well explain tuto for aluminium. I'm a satisfactory player for years now and this is by far the best one about the water by-product reuse and how to pipe back to input and also the sink at the end of line of both silica and scrap alu. You deliver some major tips so everyone can actually see, understand and redo. GG man

Nice overview! I've had luck with the variable input priority junction you talked about. It is kind of a pain to setup but I do like that you don't have any settings to mess with. It will always allow in the perfect amount of fresh water. Obvious downsides is you need two pumps. I do like a good old U-bend whenever possible.
@DrLootCrate
@DrLootCrate Год назад
I actually didn’t know about the priority junction when I built the factory in the video…it is a little bit older. I do kinda have one in my battery factory next door and it definitely does work. It is probably more reliable than the trial and error that I originally did for this factory, but this works pretty well. Sometimes production drops to 478 ingots per minute according to my train station…the price of being a touch conservative with the water

I just got to aluminum and was working through the numbers to balance everything. I got an alternate recipe to use Petroleum Coke instead of coal, so the numbers will be different to yours, but figuring out the silica and water steps will help a lot. I just need to rebuild what I have because I was going to use a packager and then ship the bottled alumina from the gold coast to the coal area, but with that alt recipe I can stay where I am. Very timely video to pop up on my feed. Thanks!
@DrLootCrate
@DrLootCrate Год назад
My pleasure Mr Mibes! I normally like to come to my liquids because transporting them via packaging or long pipe is a serious pain. That petroleum coke recipe is probably good pretty good, but I didn’t have any of them at the time I built this factory. In fact, this was the thing that got me to upload my save and unlock all the alternates on SCIM. I had found all the recipes in my previous save, but just didn’t want to do it in this 2nd one. I have another video on how to do that if you feel like it. My next video will be my current build for 600 aluminum ingot a minute factory using the sloppy alumina and pure aluminum ingot recipes, so look for that probably on Sunday.

@@DrLootCrate I actually watched that unlocking video yesterday, I think. I won't be doing that yet, because I'm still on my first game. But I'll keep it in mind if I restart in the future. I'll keep an eye out for your updated factory video, thanks!

I have my first basic system for aluminum now with aluminum scrap and silica being sent back to main base via train. My issue was that my water kept backing up and I thought I had perfect numbers with 2 pumps for water plus the water bi-product from making aluminum scraps which equals 360 cubic meters of water/min. This is perfect for the 2 refineries making liquid aluminum/silica which each take 180/min. So x2 = 360... so.. perfect. I screwed around with fluid buffers until i realized that the T1 pipes only do 300 cubic meters of water/min so it wouldn't feed enough to the liquid aluminum/silica production which made all sorts of problems occur but the T2 pipes fixed everything. The first 2 refineries are constantly full on water, and the aluminum scrap refinery is constantly empty on water, hellz yeah :) They would only be required between the pumps and first 2 refineries but I replaced all with T2 anyway. I keep a small fluid buffer for good measure that is raised up a couple walls high so that it prioritizes putting water back into the loop.

Well done. Clearly explained. But Please tell me there is a way to know if an item is going to be used in an ongoing manner or if it’s a one off where only 2000 are needed, not 2 million. Love this game, but after 300 hours of it arriving at Tier 7 I am really fatigued with it not knowing how much of an item I should make. Nothing IRL works this way. Either I need 500 or 5 million. Why do I want to make 300 per minute of anything when seven Per minute will suffice? I understand this is not the case with aluminum ingots, but Mother of God if I see another video explaining I can make hundreds of a particular item without explaining why or in what quantities I will need them later simply leads to messy, inefficient storage systems - which is exactly what I have right now.
@DrLootCrate
@DrLootCrate Год назад
I am right with you. I was thinking about making a video about how i decide how much of something to make…you really don’t need that many of the final products to send the phase four space elevator up. One thing that helped me is figuring out that I don’t really need to store too much and it isn’t worth it to make a big storage facility. I fill up a storage container at the end of most factories with an overflow and call it a day. Some people like to challenge themselves with massive projects because they can and they like building, but I don’t think that is ever required. I tend to build at a medium scale…maybe a little bit more than I necessarily need to finish the game, but no super mega monstrosities…if you like that approach, consider subscribing and seeing what I have coming up.

I found that putting a pump on output of the kept them drained obliviously its working for you but if the output stalls it will backup the pump seems to prevent that and will restart properly if it stalls
@DrLootCrate
@DrLootCrate Год назад
Cool idea. I have messed around with pumps and more valves, but it often seems to react oddly. My general approach with fluids is to try to be as simple as possible until it works and then don’t touch it!
@phunkydroid
@phunkydroid Год назад
I find dealing with the water byproduct pretty simple. Instead of that return line from the scrap production to the solution production going around the building, make it go up and over. Make sure the top of that loop is above the head lift of your extractors, and put a pump on the scrap production side of things if needed. The extractors will not be able to block the output of the scrap production and the solution production will always take water from the higher pressure pipe coming from above first. Even if you overclock the extractors so they're producing a huge excess, it won't cause a backup.
@DrLootCrate
@DrLootCrate Год назад
Interesting. Is that true? The priority junction design is dependent on the bottom pipe taking priority, not the top. You obviously have it working, so maybe I am not quite picturing what you are describing
@phunkydroid
@phunkydroid Год назад
@@DrLootCrate An example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-E3ytoPce4m8.html For testing I had the extractor overclocked to 300 and the single power plant it feeds only uses 240. The pipe coming in under the floor is the byproduct water from my uranium waste processing, and it doesn't back up at all, the blenders always have 0 in their output buffers. Another example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LacocLw-hkY.html In this case the refineries produce 150/min while the blenders use 160/min and output 40/min. So combined there is more than needed at the blenders' input but no back up on their outputs, because the recycled input gets used before the fresh input. I have several others like this on more complicated setups and it seems to just require two things. 1) The top of that recycling loop is higher than the head lift of the fresh input. 2) The machines are using more than what the recycling line provides.
@dandpsy
@dandpsy Год назад
I run all water output into coal generators. You can fine tune them just right with overclocking to ensure all fluid is burnt off. And that is their only purpose not power production it's a handy byproduct though
@DrLootCrate

That is the dead simplest way to do it for sure, especially since you are already bringing coal to the factory anyway
@robdennison1215

Aluminum can be a bit of a beast when you first get to it. but in short all you need to do is back feed all the water from the second set of refineries and set your water extractors to provide the net difference. and it will run for ever.

Make sure you route the water bi-product from aluminum scrap production to the pipe between the water pumps and the first refineries(that are making the alumina solution). Do not route the water bi-product behind the pumps or you will still get excess water.
