00:00. Intro
05:00 Reading from the book
07:34 Foreword by Sir David Warren
28:12 Editorial Preface
36:58 Bibliography
38:05 Outro
I talk about the first edition of Satow's diaries 1861-1869 (hardcover, Eureka Press 2013) and how it is to be obtained now (2024) at a good discount from the Tokyo publisher (email "edsynapse@nifty.com"). I also mention that I have, with the publisher's blessing, created and published a Kindle ebook and am about to add a paperback edition.
Then I read through the front pages of the book (the ones with Roman numerals). In particular I read the Foreword by Sir David Warren and the Editorial Preface by the editors, Robert Morton and Ian Ruxton.
With regard to the "Bakufu" error (should be "Bakumatsu"), this was spotted and removed before the 2013 edition was published, though somehow it has reappeared and I have now removed it once more. Sorry for any inconvenience, but this kind of thing happens with multiple revisions and working on more than one computer!

It is more than ten years since Robert Morton and I as editors published Sir Ernest Satow’s diaries 1861-1869 in a premium hardcover edition through Eureka Press of Kyoto, an imprint of Edition Synapse (Tokyo). At last with the blessing of Robert and the publisher I have been able to produce a paperback and Kindle Ebook. Hooray! www.amazon.com/dp/B0D98CY665
