too many young technicians focus on pressure and not temperature. every specific refrigerant has a specific temperature at a given pressure. this is where a PT chart comes in handy. every refrigerant gauge has a PT chart for specific refrigerans. learn to use it. Danfoss refrigerant slider is a great app for PT calculations. ‪@militaur‬

I know a lot of techs if not most techs don’t like using low loss fittings or hoses, just wondering why? I use them and love them and haven’t really had any issues.

I'm not sure. I have nothing against low loss fittings. These Yellow jacket hoses with the ball valves are my go-to.

Nailed it. I preach to our youngsters.....sat temps....pressure means nothing. Had to teach them about bleeding the liquid back into the suction as well....they asked why...i told them.....well in 3 years, if you didn't bleed it back over.....a 5' liquid line hose can hold 3oz of refrigerant....do the math....3 years....3oz......9oz lost for no reason....thats over ½ a lb of refrigerant lost....then someone says there is a leak....and there isn't.

You and Rick are about the only guys I see saying this, but I don't understand why instructors everywhere aren't teaching this. It's just common sense. Transitioning from commercial refrigeration work to hvac, is easy when you just think about evap and condenser temps instead of memorizing pressures for everything you work on.

Thanks, Brooks. They should be teaching it. The problem is that a lot of guys just get thrown out there with no training at all

@@HVACRSurvival most of the time when I'm testing a system, I don't even know what pressure I'm running. I am always focused on what's my evap temp, what's my ctoa for this unit. Pressure is just another number on the gauge that I really don't care about that much unless I'm setting a pressure switch or diagnosing a heat pressure problem etc.
