Get a Roof rack for the SUV or a ladder rack for the Pick up. If your garage if tall enough, make a hammock with a tarp under the boat(Or use the gromets on top of the chambers) and hang it with pulleys from the ceiling. Mine was much smaller and fast to assemble by the water. Got an Alluninum 12 ft Starcraft (after the Sevylor) that traveled 1000's miles on the rack, by myself. No problem loading and unloading by myself
I appreciate you taking the time to make this video, we're going to get the Saturn 15 foot HD fishing boat with a 25hp mercury jet motor. Great ideas you have I will use similar setup.
My very old Sevylor from the 1970's would assemble just like yours. Good design. Couldn't make if a single chamber or multi chamber? mine had a 2nd internal chamber for safety
Have a 12 foot one coming soon. Would love to see more videos. Plan to use it for mostly freshwater fishing for my son and I but hope to make some inshore trips at some point
I really like the heavy duty construction, added protective layers & the double row of tie down eyelets on the top of the pontoons for attaching dry bags. I have two concerns I hope you or someone reading this can help me with. 1) The inflatable keel did not look very pronounced or deep. Sure, it was there but not very pronounced. Is it sufficiently deep enough to enhance the handling performance & stability? Does it plane well or cut through chop to keep the boat from slapping on the water? In this video & in all the images on Saturn's website, the keel does not appear to have a very pronounced "V"shape on the Heavy Duty Fishing boat version the same as this one in the video . In the images & videos of the regular duty Saturn or the Bris or Stryker inflatables, the keel is always very visible & pronounced in the images. 2) The stern end tails of the pontoons are not tapered. I realise this round shape apparently allows you to hang a heavier motor on the transom but do those bulbous ends interfere with the planing or make it harder to get up on plane? Tapered pontoon tails tend help with speed by minimizing drag, handling/turning, getting on plane & reducing stern wash when you suddenly slow down. I'm seriously considering ordering this boat because of the features & price but have yet to find the answers to my questions. Any help would be appreciated.
First off thanks for watching. Ill try to help but i don't have a degree in boat building/dynamics, with that being said if i remember correctly the keel is about 8 inches below the main tubes. I have an 18 hp and it gets on a plane in short work. As for the end of the tubes I know what you are referring to but it seems to be fine on this Boat. Scroll through our videos there are a few more with the boat and it did well in chop with a swell and it turns well. We bought this Boat because of price and that it is heavy duty. Just FYI were not sponsored and i would buy this boat again. Thanks again for watching Mike.
That makes sense when you put gear in a small boat like yours it becomes room for 2 people. Wow you made EVERYONE think hard after you said that. So smart
@@calidude5116 I noticed the same thing when I sold this boat and bought a Legend X16 rated for five people. Load it with gear and it quickly becomes a comfortable three person boat....only makes sense
People in Miami can buy these kind of boats? I am referring to crocodile bites. I guess even the smallest crocodile bite could finish with your weekend in the middle of the lake.
I'd like to see more videos. Definitely want to see it on the water and what size motor you put on it. I'm going to get the 14.1ft and it's hard to find videos of this boat.
Don't think the 14 is same as this boat.... looks like he got the fb...14 believe is the hd... same cost but different. Hd got 2 additional air chambers which is awesome... but his version has beefier under protection.... longer wider etc.
Did you have to have to bolt the seat box to the aluminum flooring, or did making it slightly wider than the inside hold it down just fine ? Thanks for another awesome video 😎
Nice I should have got this one I got the sd488 16 ft and paid 2000 grand and they said it was heavy duty and mine is way softer then yours so Saturn got me good tho heavy duty not mine your has way more protection all around then mine fact lesson leanr I won’t make the same mistake tho and doing like a little tiny tear in one of the tibes look like a little fingernail rip tho but not effected holding air or anything amd to send it back would be a lot of headache tho and pins wjat looks like a patch underneath the keel when I look under it inside the boat toh should have bought a bris boat
I just bought the heavy duty Saturn 16 ft heavy duty Saturn how t do you like it is it’s strong we’ll made amd does it hold up strong as I’m going on the ocean just ordered mine
The wheels flip down so you can carry the boat on land easier. And once you are on the water and you no longer need the wheels, you flip them up, so they don't stick in the water and slow you down.
Very cool ! Nice unboxing video to Saturn FB385. Any videos on your mods? How about performance? What HP outboard are you using? Do you trailer it to Baja or take in your travel trailer/truck? If so, how is the 100+ lbs of weight getting in to trailer/truck?
Thanks for watching, The only significant mod was the two seats and the box which i wasn't sure if i should film it. I also bought the peel and stick foam floor decking which was super easy and will hopefully keep our boys feet from burning. We live part time here in San Felipe so we will be keeping the boat here in the shop and as for now we have a cheesy launch trailer that we will definitely be upgrading. We bought this boat because of the fact that we can roll it up and take it on trips with out the need for a trailer and yes its heavy but wasn't to bad. We have an 18hp 4 Stroke motor. This is our new project so definitely more videos coming. Thanks again for watching. Mike
@@arcosdebaja4316 Cool video, I saw some other vids and none have covered the motor mounting, I wonder if you could add that or even some pics or if you found anything that helps show what all needed to mount the motor on the back board if clamps or screws on or some kit needed? Thanks in advance.
@@jimp5713 First off thanks for watching and actually ill be remounting my motor soon because i think its to low in the water. Ill do a short video but it wont be out for a month or so. Thanks Mike.
Looking at getting the same boat, debating between the 14 foot heavy duty boat or the 15 foot standard duty. Does the dark grey and black material get too hot in the sun?
Sorry for the late response and it does get warm maybe a bit than a lighter color but with that being said all my other boats that ive had get pretty warm when sitting in the sun.
First off thanks for watching, but unfortunately i did not make a video when i did it. With that being said i just built a simple box that was about 3 inches lower than the aluminum seat and about 1/4 inch wider on the inside then covered it in a light outdoor carpet. The seats i found on amazon and i just made sure that both of them together equaled the inside width. Check out my last video it might help. Hope that helps Mike.
