It's been a while and unfortunately we didn't get to the finish line of it either, but here's what we had for Saturnine before Games Workshop changed their policy. The following animation is an excerpt from the book Saturnine that was commissioned by Chapter Master Valrak.
We are The Grape Lords and we make animations and nobody really knows why.
Actually, we're a group of friends from South Africa who enjoy making well executed but dumb content, so please enjoy!

@@donaldn5798 It's not individual book as much as the whole corpus there are founded on. Frank Herbert's Dune Moorcock's Elric are the most visible examples. Early 40K was a mishmash of popular fiction and classical history. And yes every writer and every work of fiction is to some degree inspired by the works that came beforehand (standing on the shoulders of giants and all that) but I can think of very few works that were as blatant as 40K. Really only Eragon and Witcher come to mind. Fun and totally unrelated fact, the Necron resurrections protocols were literally called "we'll be back".

Modern GW seems to stand against everything old GW stood for. It was a platform of creativity and imagination. 40k was in many ways a satire, taking elements from everything fantasy, sci-fi and awesome and upping them to 11. Fans were encouraged to do the same, creating their own races, Space Marine chapters, house rules, stories, converting toys and deodorant sticks into miniatures and vehicles. Modern GW feels like a bunch of corporate types got their hands on the property and a loyal fanbase and are trying to exploit it to the max without understanding what it is at its core and the history behind it.

Games Workskop is such a joke of a business. They're more keen on making money and ruling over their supporters with Iron Fists than letting their fan base create intrigue for their stupid overpriced products. Sorry that happened to you guys and the rest of the content creators out there, like the Astartes creator, and others. I'll probably refrain from buying any of their stuff moving forward. Never support companies who consider anyone outside of their own studios Xenos - especially when independent creators make a product 10x better and more intriguing than they do.

Primarchs being really shitty uncles makes me sad, especially when they do it to the Imperial Fists. Dorn was a good dad to his sons compared to most of the other Primarchs (minus the Iron Cage and disowning Sigusmund) that it makes me a bit sick when they pick on our yellow boys just to get back at him.

The skeleton is great on its own. The project was clearly going to be something beautiful in the end. It is a shame games workshop cannot handle people creating things they themselves are too lazy to.

Don't know why GW would shoot themselves on the foot by preventing their community from making these. Warhammer 40k was gaining popularity, bringing interest to it. Were they scared of it being too popular or did they wanna cash-in on the animation popularity of W40k. If the latter, then it doesn't make sense, since their subscription program to watch animations is *incredibly lacking* not at all worth it.

I never bought a mini, I have been always here for the story, but these current events are giving me the urge to buy a 3d printer and build an army. Creators like you, who show passion and devotion for your projects and the ip, shouldn't have to suffer the loss of a muse.

We used blender for the background. GW made a policy change that stops fan animation being made about their IP. Quite messed up actually.

@@kellyjohnson768 Well it hadn't stopped them throwing around the occasional cease and desist. Overall the animation took us a little more than half a year until GW did its thing in around August of last year.

I will never understand how gw thought destroing free for them advertisement was a good idea. TTS brought me to warhammer lore since I was a 17 years old, I could not buy any models couse I was stil studying and prefered to spend money on booze with friends. Now that I am 25 have a good paying job and would be willing to buy a whole White Scar and Orc Army, I would rather spend it on Battle Tech since they have embraced their fans creations. Even made Tex a canon historian in universe, this is how you treat fans who spend countless hours creating fan content out of passion for the universe.

My only criticism is that Rogal had a shield. He went sword-and-board against Fulgrim. Otherwise, this would have been excellent. I liked the voice acting here. It's much better than the audible book which had Fulgrim sounding more like Gollum than a normal person.

I tried looking it up but all I could find was a Shield Eternal (an advanced storm shield) relic he gave to his seneschal and the regular Vigil Pattern storm shields that the rest of the Imperial Fists had. I can't find anything about Dorn himself having one. He probably did though, with an ideology like his I'm surprised _none_ of the figures I've seen have one.

This is why I watch lore and content creator stuff, but have never and will never buy a product from GW. I understand the need to make money, I understand the need to protect IP, but GW is as evil as the setting. They love it both ways, 100% ripping off other people's IP and defending shit that is 90% stolen like it belongs to them. Necros without terminator? Catachan without Rambo? Tyranids without Alien? What about Dune? It's disgusting that they treat their customers and community like they do. Guess 3d printing has some lessons to teach them.

DORN’s Beard!!! You guys actually added his beard, shame GW ruined this for yall, but seeing your animation process and seeing the details even in the scrap areas is insane. The motion during the fight between Sigusmund and Fulgrim even with the lack of finished detail is great. He’s fast, angry, hits without precision but with fury. Even in its incomplete state it’s snappy.
