Al Ud, is one of the oldest black neighborhood in Riyadh, vast majority of its residents are being relocated to a new area in Riyadh. The African School is managed and run by the Guinean "Conakry" Community of Riyadh
Just have to add, these school kids and the crazy levels of enthusias, has put such a smile on my face. God bless you kids and wishing you joy and success in life.
@Robert Collins i agree it's not always how it seems black ppl looking happy in middle east what not behind the scene some shady slavery shit is going down

Robert Collins it’s not true, I studied with a lot of African people in fact three of my best friends are African, they treated very well, and in this video it’s only because the area they in
Yeah they are happy but I think they are in hopeless place because they don’t have similarity in Saudi Arabia. I was lived in Saudi Arabia for 7 years. When I remember that 7 years I really crying. Because I don’t know how can I explain the difference of another country’s and those Arab countries. There is no any hope for your life but you work like machines with out right. Yeah this all Arab countries must destroy out and they have to colonize with another countries. Even they didn’t include those Arab countries like Tunisia 🇹🇳 Algeria 🇩🇿 Morocco 🇲🇦 Egypt 🇪🇬 Libya 🇱🇾 . They don’t allow another origin.
You showed the reality without editing. I knew more about the life of the African communities in KSA because of your videos. Thank you brother respect from Sudan.
Adi Adeee that racist my guy, and in fact YOU'RE arab cuz you mane language is arabic n your country has a 50% arab and 50% Africa dna, and cuz you're in Africa people call you african its not that complicated.
Adi Adeee omg what the hell is wrong with you, are you okay? Chill and hav a peaceful conversation im not her to defend someone you said a lie and I correct it. And you wrone again arabs did not came from Africa
Adi Adeee LOL the Kabbah started to be dressed in black in the 1930s .. it was dressed in white before that by the Ottomans and before them it was dressed in RED, THE STONES of the Kaabah actually is in light brown... I told you, you are suffering from an inferiority complex BUT also you are a BIG IGNORANT who knows nothing about the world. I can't believe it, this man talking about Kabbah thinks it's black while it's the dress that is changed to be black (because it can't be stained or get dirty easily) by Saudi royal family. The inside of Kabbah is empty with 2 wooden pillars anyone can see it online also they open it once every year.
The children are so happy. Multi races, ethnicities and cultures all together as one. No fighting just love. The way it should be among children and adults.
I am an African American and I know nothing about Africans living in Saudi Arabia. This video has been very enlightening. I was most impressed with the children, these wonderful children. I do hope that opportunities will begin to open up for these children so that they can fully participate in their country, Saudi Arabia. If this does not happen then Saudi Arabia will squander the opportunities to benefit from the great gifts that these children can give to the Saudi Society. Thank you for sharing this with me and the world.
@@eypu999 it's TRUE the first arabs were black ...plus the first guy who used to say mwathini in mosques was a black person bt tht doesn't mean a thing we all equal..
@@afrikanakevs Arabs aren’t black. We are not white either.. Arabs are Arabs and you can’t deny our race. Arabian tribes are one of the purest ancestry they never married outside of their tribes or similar ones for thousands of years. Yes we have African Arabian tribes and African Saudis who don’t belong to a tribe.. But around 70% of Saudis are pure Arabs who have no connection whatsoever with Africans in terms of DNA at least in the last 10 thousands years..
@@bobbyhemmitsnippets3673 mate, I'm saudi and my family comes from a long line of saudi Bedouin (Arabian desert dwellers). Africa and the middle east are completely different when it comes to history. arabs and Africans are two different races, have their own rich history and not the same, the origin of arabs have always since the beginning of time have lived in the middle east and they're not africans, sure there are africans living among them but they're not the same people. don't mix up our history and tell us we don't exist like "Isre*l". do some research and look into it instead of sharing misinformation.
During ancient African civilization: black people travelled and lived in many parts of the world. Not only Middle East but you find them in India, America, South America, Indonesia, etc.... and find their fingerprints in ancient arts and sculptures. Plus: Archeological findings amuse archeologists all the time. Good luck with your research cause these facts/truths are tearing down lies and becoming more and more available to the general public. 🙏🙏🙏.
I am so glad I clicked on this video. I love how all the children seem happy and enjoy each other, and can speak different languages. I am on the other side of the world, and where I come from you don't see that! Those children are awesome.
I love your channel I just subscribed. Your perspective is so refreshing. I am an African descendant of Cuban Puerto Rican heritage born in the Bronx NY. I live in Rome and have met so many of us from all over the world. I love learning about our people's stories and cultures from parts of the world I have yet to see. Excellent work brother. I look forward to your next journey.🇨🇺🇵🇷🌍
They restaurant have a Saudi owner. Foreigner is not allowed to own anything, Jews are allowed to visit, travel, live ,or own a business. American Rappers are always performing in Saudi, Bahrain, Quatar, etc. I lived and worked there. They live there because it is their choice. But look at their Bank Accounts it will blow your mind. Remember all Saudi Nationalist receives a monthly living expense check from the oil companies, they do not squander their money!
This is such a beautiful video. I grew up in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia but I never got to explore the world outside my bubble back then. I never even knew people from different races had their communities in -literally and figuratively- the heart of Riyadh. Thank you so much for capturing this part of the city. It is precious, beautiful and deserves recognition. I also loved how sensitive, thoughtful and kind you were to the people in your video. I know how such places have lots of cultural constraints but I was surprised at your sincerity that drew them to you and absolutely delighted with their friendliness. Looking forward to see more of you. Best of luck.
You are a GREAT asset to Afriqa.Being multi lingual is beneficial to everyone who wants to know more about our scattered people . Keep up the great work SId!!
I swear this is the best video 4me I'm happy to see all that ppl ,,my father is Yemeni and my mama Is Ethiopian I was born in saudi 🙏🏾🙏🏾👍🏾tnx the video was 💕
Hey, I always look up to the episodes you upload. Very informative. Had you not rolled your cameras in those hoods you visited I would never have known about the existence of those communities. They all look jovial. The end is a bit sad but there was a glimmer of hope when you said the folks there have mastered the game and are playing it to their advantage.
@@badralfarse1160 oh why? Im asking you because it looks like you respect it when people with low living standards smile in front of a camera. I don't understand why
Melvin Jansen it’s a sad fact that these amazing people have some low living standards. However, I respect their happiness, and how small things could make them happy.
I'm Kenya Yemeni too & my Arabic is poor too. We don't get to have good teachers like others. Despite I've learnt Arabic in school too. This guy is fluent in all 3 languages ma Shaa Allah!
this is really very wholesome, i lived in Riyadh my entire life and i have never seen these neighborhoods or even knew these ppl existed its very the whole society have let these guys down
My 14th year in Riyadh i've been there most people living in such areas are poor and those who flee from their employers cos life is simple and affordable here
If u wanna visit black local Neighborhood u should have gone to alfisalih in Riyadh, all the residents are black Arab who been living in the country before the birth of the country
The story of this Neighborhood started when The government put law forbidding slavery many of the slave were just freed and has no place to go the government give them this neighborhood
Darcia Mbaye Your experience is definitely unfortunate. I am a Black American born and raised in Houston (Texas), and I was never taught to dislike/hate Africans (or anyone for that matter). In fact, I personally do not know of anyone who was raised in that manner. Many of the Black Africans (varying countries) that I met in college and/or through work expressed that they were taught that Black Americans were inferior to Black Africans bc our ancestors were enslaved and theirs were not. Also that the media plays a big role in how Black Americans are portrayed throughout the world (lazy, criminal, etc), and that played a major role in how the Black Africans that I know/have known “see” and “think” of Black Americans. Once we get to know one another, w/o preconceived notions, we may realize that we have more in common than not.
They definitely seem to be happy children. Though I must say that I work w/children & many, if not most, are happy in school w/their friends & not bothered w/the worries of the world.
In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia there is no place designated for blacks or whites, whether it is a school or a neighborhood. We are all brothers and our religion does not allow racial discrimination.
So why are all Saudis saying they never heard of it??? Doesn't that show there is systemic social segregation, even if that is not legally enforced??? I really can't understand why you guys are so deluded. This is fucking Saudi Arabia, a country that was forced to ban slavery just in 1962. What else can be expected from such a country with an ugly history.
@@freepatriot9070 america banned slavery not to free slaves, just to unite and force its ideals, my school is half arab, 25% black 25% indian, you clearly haven’t been to saudi arabia
@@sweatingalex5935 America can go to hell any day of the week. No one was talking about America. Believe me, I know Arabs and Saudis full well. I speak Arabic at a native level. There might be some exceptions here and there, but there is certainly a strong anti-black sentiment in the Arab world in general and in Saudi Arabia in particular. So miss me with your BS anecdotes, please.
@@freepatriot9070 i have lived my entire life in saudi, i know racism is a huge problem here in saudi and the arabic world but new kids now dont see race, its making me very happy
Wow I’m African American or FBA and I’ve always had a weird obsession with Saudi Arabia and Egypt😊 it’s something about the culture I like but this video went deep into the country, which I didn’t expect and the kids melt my heart, just precious.
I think you misunderstood, The video doesn’t show racism , it’s not about color in any way , those are foreigners (non Saudi) who want to live in SA non officially (without citizenship) , the Majority of them happened to be African, it’s not like BLACK SAUDI school that’s a big misunderstanding.
@@mohyo5735 You said ''the video doesn't show racism'' this is exactly what I m saying. Nice to see children from North Africa and West African chilling.
Im dutch here we need to speak flandrish german french dutch Afrikaans english and spanish and in my situation also danish because we need to know germanic languages and world language But America is the first world country its so big and people all speak the same language that's why they speak more one language.....
The kids are so cute. I'm Arab, and I love this. I love the diversity. We come in different shades and colors. It's one of the infinitely beautiful things about our people and culture.
My parents used to live in the same hood over 50 years. I’m not black btw. I really liked your video. That’s the difference between a RU-vidr want to show reality and RU-vidr wants attention and to get views. Why I’m saying that because an American RU-vidr came to the same hood and he’s acting like this is the most dangerous hood in Saudi Arabia and a lot of shooting blah blah. And btw in Saudi people are not allowed to carry gun. But any ways thank you for showing the reality and showing how peaceful the same neighborhood an American saying most dangerous place in Saudi.
THANK YOU! I WOULD NOT HAVE KNOW ABOUT THE AFRICAN EXISTENCE IN THIS PART OF THE WORLD IF NOT FOR YOUR CHANNEL. I APPRECIATE THE BALANCE YOU LENT TO THE CONTENT. AS A JAMAICAN, I LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR CONTRIBUTION. GOD BLESS!
Adi Adeee even here u running ur mouth but can’t even spell 😂😂😂 u a fucking shame u so jealous of Arabs u tried to be like them but u failed so u started sharing hate 😂😂😂😂
Adi Adeee of course they are not your cup of tea because u a shame. U veryyy jealous s 😂😂😂😂😂 Nd don’t know nothing about your history 😂😂 + I’m black too so shut the fuck up u just a hater

it's more like a really really old neighborhood and most of them got relocated and then there where people do did not want to relocate. it's the same with Jeddah. some places need to be rebuilt but then again they can be considered as historical places by now and it's the people's choice to either move or not move. of course, there might be some financial issues but it is really difficult to be with such poverty that you are forced to live in a home like that. even in the lowest salaries as a Saudi you can get enough of a salary to live in so-so apartment and if you have a wife that works then you can live in a good apartment for the most basic of jobs that you don't even need a degree for.
I don’t see them as poor? I just see happy people MashaAllah How did you conclude that they are poor? In Saudi even an ultra rich woman or man could be hanging out here They all behave same You can’t tell rich from poor They care a damn to such mentality You wouldn’t even believe them having luxurious cars and just sitting in streets relaxing in their finest abayas and eating from street vendors They care a damn about people’s social status, or color or even religion Just don’t mess with their women that’s it
@Adi Adeee you might misunderstood the situation, the video is showing a school that made specifically for non Saudi ppl , as you can see they are learning French and French is not exist in any Normal Saudi schools , it's not about putting away black ppl there is actually more Saudi black ppl in Normal Saudi schools, the ppl in the video is foreigners ppl who live without Saudi citizen which is hard to get , the majority of them happened to be black ppl it’s not like there is racism on black ppl
Beautiful and great video. The kids were all so beautiful and happy and robust of life. Keep up the great work. Your videos are inspiring. Your videos help to change my outlook of the middle eastern world. Years ago, I had not the best experience in Lebanon and Jordan. I'm sure many things have changed for the better. Your videos bring hope of human unity, respect and compassion.

I wish you luck on all your travels and insha'Allah more videos to come! Would love to see you visit Somaliland! We would welcome you with open arms!
Thank you so much for this wonderful display of life on this planet. We have got to see war is insanity. Thank you for telling those children stories. Your video really touched my heart.
I must admit that I really enjoyed watching this video very much! Especially when you took the time to introduce members of the local communities there in Al Ud with the wonderful and joyful kids! Love it!! Keep them coming for sure.

Bumped into this blog and its excellent. I have leant a lot from it. Social anthropology at its best. The host is bubbly and inquisitive. He makes a great chronicler and historian.
"black people in poor areas"...those who live in poor areas are not saudies, they don't have the Saudi citisenship ...what the youtuber mentioned is false. black Saudies, have the right for free health care, free education including the university, and a house for free from the goverment when he gets married, just like any other Saudi whether he is black, white, or brown Saudi they will get the same treatemnt for the goverment. and in that poor area in the video you will find Yaminies, and egyptions living there too, and the end it depends on the degree of education that they have, you have bachelor degree you will get a high paid job, just like in any other country
BTW non-Saudis also get free education, they can go to government schools for free, and if they got a high GPA at school they will get a free education at the university from the Government
he never said only black people lived in poor areas. In fact, the areas that he showed he talked about how it was mostly yemenis, africans. he also said that the government relocated these people to better places
Article 69 • Lakin/Lakini • Ummah/Ummat • Waqti/Wakati • Qarib/Qaribu • Salam/Salam • Harakah/Harakah • Baraka/Baraka • Sawahil/Sawahili All these terms are both Arabic and Sawahili. Even the name “Swahili” itself is an Arabic term. I don’t even speak Arabi or swahili yet I can still list these words to show their language similarities. Now go search more instead of arguing over what you have no knowledge of.
Am a Kenyan...a Swahili speaking country...and yes...most of Arabic words are similar to Swahili words. It's history... way back from our ancestors...Arabs coming to East Africa for trade...and interacting with our ancestors... that's how Swahili was born. Check History.
I'm from SA specifically from Riyadh I might saw this area before but I didn't know that there is an actual school in it , I can see how having no ciriteznships is difficult, wish I can go there and make some African friends and other friends from other nationalities I hope i can communicate with them I don't know French tho😅 BTW very unique video 👍🏻
Excellent report! For people who cannot afford to travel prior to the travel ban (COVID-19) this is a wonderful introduction to different cultures.....
I need to enroll in this school and learn me another language or two. I really enjoyed this video, smiling ear to ear the entire time. So many beautiful faces ❤️
This is among the best of what the RU-vid platform can offer. You rarely get to see a perspective on other cultures in a genuine way as shown in this video. Thank you. "Mashallah".
