Love this. Esoteric and intriguing. I admire his range of styles. A million miles from FWF He's doing exactly what he wants, which is exactly the right thing for a creative musician to do! You just hope people get it...
I love Saul as we all do, and as a drummer, I love a bit of freestyle percussion, but this was sailing dangerously close to "Jazz Club" (for you Fast Show fans!). Still, good on him.
Hehe. Yeah, you gotta risk stuff sometimes. Speaking of which, have you heard/seen uncle daddy, brother Nathan’s other project? That’ll find you reaching for sailing close metaphors.
The songs accompanied by the flute are some of the most fragile things I have ever heard sung by anyone ever. Here's hoping that they get a proper recording before Saul dies. I'm not saying that to be crass or try to be shocking - I love the man - I mean it because I feel the material and Saul deserve that. But let's not fool ourselves about the timeline. Lou, you continue to provide an essential service to all of us by documenting this period of Saul's musical life.
