For TRUTH!!! Saul Williams has been speaking the TRUTH in profoundly creative ways with such POWER and talent that it blows right past our habitual ignorance we use as an escape hatch from a reality we are perpetuating.
Not far from The Truth...True screaming rage, this... Put to organic rhythms, not brain dead M&M canned computer beats with selfish driven Eminmish lyrics passing as art, whilst folks are living hand to FUCKING mouth, fools...
Peter Short yea, there’s new kid by ex head, up the bracket by the libertines, and so many other songs that i deeply enjoy and have nostalgia for that are completely underrated. sucks that so many amazingly good artists aren’t well known as some trashy idiots with untuned instruments.

@@shnoobar20 yrs later..I'm randomly looking it up..cuz I used to crank shis shit..im 55, yeah🙄😜☠️👻🥸😜🤙 Shit stll kills..pass it on!❤ This stands up today..its why I googled it, YEAH?!🤙 3:19
I was always a huge NIN fan who did a lot of his music in his first album I believe and came to find out later and I’m like how didn’t I know who this guy is. But basically somehow found him all these years later through the kills cover as well 😅
Saul Williams is one of the most prolific and important Poets of my/our generation. He gives what what is givin' to him......Thank you for sharing your gift.
Easily!!!! Got to see him with a symphony quartet in a small room a few years ago and will always be the best live experience I’ve ever had / will ever have. He’s the real deal and not enough people know of his existence.
@@tragedybysyntax I agree! I saw him in arizona in my 20s and he was beyond amazing. After the show he greeted as many of us as he could and I remember how humble and pleasant he was.
I want my money back I'm down here drowning in your fat You got me on my knees Praying for everything you lack I ain't afraid of you I'm just a victim of your fears You cower in your tower Praying that I'll disappear I got another plan One that requires me to stand On the stage or in the street Don't need no microphone or beat And when you hear this song If you ain't dead sing along Bang and strum to these here drums Till you get where you belong I got a list of demands Written on the palm of my hands I ball my fist, and you're gonna Know where I stand We living hand to mouth You wanna be somebody? See somebody? Try and free somebody? I got a list of demands Written on the palm of my hands I ball my fist, and you're gonna Know where I stand We living hand to mouth Hand to mouth I wrote a song for you today While I was sitting in my room I jumped up on my bed today And played it on the broom I didn't think that it would be a song That you would hear But when I played it in my head I made you reappear I wrote a video for it And I acted out each part And then I took your picture out And taped it to my heart I've taped you to my heart, dear girl I've taped you to my heart And if you pull away from me You'll tear my life apart I got a list of demands Written on the palm of my hands I ball my fist, and you're gonna Know where I stand We living hand to mouth You wanna be somebody? See somebody? Try and free somebody? I got a list of demands Written on the palm of my hands I ball my fist, you're gonna Know where I stand We living hand to mouth, hand to mouth Ecstacy, suffering, echinacea, bufferin We aim to remember what we choose to forget God's just a baby and her diaper is wet Call the police I'm strapped to the teeth And liable to disregard Your every belief Call on the law I'm fixin' to draw A line between what is and seems And call up a brawl Callin' 'em now 'Cause I'm about to go pow I'm standing on the threshold Of the ups and the downs Call up a truce Because I'm about to break loose Protect ya neck 'cause son I'm breaking out of my noose I got a list of demands Written on the palm of my hands I ball my fist, and you're gonna Know where I stand We living hand to mouth You wanna be somebody? See somebody? Try and free somebody? I got a list of demands Written on the palm of my hands I ball my fist, and you're gonna Know where I stand We living hand to mouth Hand to mouth I got a list of demands Written on the palm of my hands I ball my fist, and you're gonna Know where I stand We living hand to mouth You wanna be somebody? See somebody? Try and free somebody? I got a list of demands Written on the palm of my hands I ball my fist, and you're gonna Know where I stand We living hand to mouth Hand to mouth
First time I saw Saul Williams was supporting NIN. Went home and listened to him over and over. It was surprising seeing a guy with a mic and a guy with a turn table on stage at a NIN concert. love it
because there's punk rock the music and punk rock the ethos. There's multiple artists of all kinds of genres doing punk shit in their respective genre.
Hey to all the Saul fans and big hip hop fans... I got into Saul in 07 because my fave artist produced Sauls Niggy Tardust album and toured with him. Just want to say that you are awesome, that you are cool and that the world is better with you in it. Sending you love and light and good vibes from your mate in Dublin, Ireland... Wherever and whoever you are you like cool music and you rock! ☺
I remember getting out of jail (unfortunately I was part of the early opioid epidemic) and my mom listened to a show on the radio called “Democracy Now!” This is one of the songs they played on the program one day and I went nuts for it! It was so good to be free and this song was what many of us whom were inmates would love to scream at those deputies in Texas. I spent a year locked up for overdosing and nothing more than around $20 of possession. Meanwhile, low-life pimps and abusers of children did less time based on who they could afford as representation. There were thousands of people in that jail and I still wonder why we never bothered to just unionize and break out. Goodness knows most those COs were a joke.
Came on during Jiu Jitsu class last night and I had to stop rolling for a second -- I had forgotten about this song. It is SO BANGIN! What a ferociously underrated talent this guy is.
I know this song due to a good friend that recently passed away..he had it in one of his old skate videos....he taught me how to carve a bowl on a skateboard and really set me up for a train ride of a time skateboarding!!! And man...this song gets me going!
Politics and Dance, Nike sucks as do most entities in capitalism but your critical analysis needs more nuance. This is the same lazy thought that has edgelords criticizing Kaepernick for not being poor enough to be respected. Good for Saul
He hasn't been underground since years before he released this song. Independent maybe, but he worked with Nas, KRS-One, De La Sol, NIN, The Mars Volta and had an LP produced by Rick Rubin. All before this song was recorded. Then this track itself has been used in a few popular TV shows and a Nike commercial, so way above underground
Yeah it was Nike I think! They were playing soccer. I remember that because that’s how I find out about this song and this artist too. Which is funny, because I’m a big NIN fan. I should’ve already known lol.
100% Niggy Tardust today..... Still one of my top 5 albums. STILL TODAY. I listen to EVERYTHING. I love every musical artist. They are the modern day philosopher. Saul I rate in the ranges of what others would put Jesus and Buddha and such ....
@@zigzagkill8153 damn thats strong, jesus and buddha? I dont blame you though saul really changed the game for alt. People of color. Iam so grateful to have heard his music 🤟🏽🤟🏽
@@BeartoeConCarne Yes. THAT strong. He had a HUGE impact on my view of the world. Grateful I found him. He is one of a handful that saved my life. I owe him.
My dad played this song for me back when I was young and didn’t truly understand or appreciate music. I remember asking what he was says and be told me about how some people are forced to live “hand to mouth” again not truly realizing what that meant. Now I do. Now I’ll fully aware of the inequality that’s been forced upon our brothers and sisters by this f***ed up system. Here’s hoping more people wake the f*** up… We all miss you Saul ❤
This is good music, a man produced by my favorite artist, Trent Reznor. I love the influence I see from both rap and Trent's industrial it fits like a glove and Saul brings all this together. If you enjoy this you oughta listen to Gunshot's By Computer, Saul's cover of NIN's Hyperpower!
The only album Reznor produced was Liberation of Niggy Tardust. And you hear Trent all over that album. If I recall his self titled album, this one, was largely self produced.
@@ricardojmestre He only produced Liberation of Niggy Stardust (and its amazing - its like NIN and Saul Williams had a baby). But I think Saul has said Trent is an influence musically.
Fucking GENIUS. Pure volcanic power ! The last time the World went bang was Prodigy Firestarter, and they didn't even have the lyrics, the meaning, the raw fire.
I first heard this song from a gf in high school and just liked how it sounded. It hits different when you listen to it as an adult and actually hear it.
