Tremendous squash player, of course, but also such a good ambassador for the game. He's always fair, always gracious, respectful of referees even when faced with poor decisions. Saurav -- thanks for your years of service to the game. You were everything a country could ask for in their No. 1.
One of the best interviews. It’s definitely the greatest achievement to be the first from your country to make a stamp in the top 10 of any sport, it’s the mental barrier and of course can be lonely initially. What really hits me, is when he said Indian parents coming up to him to say thank you for breaking the barrier for future young Indian players. That’s what it’s all about, plus being an absolute gentleman on court, he’ll be remembered fondly for generations for this.
As an Indian, very proud of Saurav. I am 52 and a regular squash player(for fitness and fun. Even have a Men over 50 India ranking). I have watched all his matches on RU-vid against all the great players and I know Saurav was a great squash player.
