@@Tindog42656that was saurons master morgoth, I can't remember the specifics but it was morgoth who was a part of the choir, an ainur and he was corrupted one way or another sauron was was a maiar a lesser variant of the Valar on par with Gandalf, sarumon and the rest

@@shaynethegmann Sauron is an Ainur. He is just of the lesser caste in the Maiar NOT a Valar. He still was more potent in spirit and wisdom than most other Maiar. However, he could not stand alone against any of the Valar. All Ainur, Maiar, and Valar participated in the Ainulindale, which was the name of the choir. Sauron was among the first of the many Maiar that Morgoth, then known as Melkor, swayed to his side with his discord.

It should be noted that the orcs serve Sauron out of fear and their hatred of the races. They are cruel and sadistic and love fighting for loot but they hate war as well. They see Sauron as a god but also as an extremely cruel master. Sam overhears two orcs (Gorbag and Shagrat) talking about taking a few of their fellow orcs and just taking off. So there is resentment and talk of desertion with the orc ranks. Sauron using this type of enchantment (like a constant bur faint whisper in their heads) to keep the orcs and other evil creatures in line is something I could see Tolkien (the greatest fantasy writer of all time and nobody can change my mind) would approve off.

Well I had my oc take four hand picked orcs and Olog-hai just when they were created so to speak and raised them to be the four champions of Mordor and lead it’s armies

Remember everyone, Sauron once had a litteral rock off/song battle against Finrod, and won. He may not be the best in a scrap, but that boy can sing, and use fingers. Also, in Tolkien world, music is magic/power, the better you sing, the stronger you are.

So I enjoy the "lullaby" / "Singing" as it has some layer of truth. For the universe and all creation came into existence by the song of the Ainur, and once before had Sauron engaged in magics by voice and song. Calling back to the battle of Finrod and himself at Tol-in-Gaurhoth. This being said, I can imagine Sauron singing his spells upon the orcs and the dark creatures he shaped and wrought into being.

Adds another layer to that 'hive mind' the orcs seem to have with the Dark Powers. In this case, Sauron constantly bewitching them with a beautiful but terrible song. No wonder they have no idea what to do without him constantly proyecting his will on them and panic the moment he falls.

I read this somewhere months ago and can't verify the source, so take this with rock salt. For all I know, it could be fan contrivance. I haven't delved in the History of Middle-Earth books yet. The assertion is that the orcs in Angband went comatose when Morgoth was dragged out by the host of the Valar in the War of Wrath. Essentially, they were so saturated in Morgoth's power that when it's source was removed from their proximity, they all collectively died from withdrawal.

@@Alche_mist Songs of Power are what brought the thoughts of the Ainur into being within Creation so I wouldn’t be surprised Sauron, an Ainu himself, would use such a method for ‘speaking’ with and dominating his slaves.

I'm now envisioning Sauron singing this to his orcs and the Nazgul just walk in on him. Sauron freezes, too embarrassed to say anyhting, and the Nazgul walk without saying a single word, and everyone silently agrees to never speak of this again.

This has no right to be so good. I can imagine a modified version being sang by a Black Númenorian mother to her child, in some fortress of Mordor, molding them into a fanatical loyalist of their God-king.

I was legitemately looking for lullabies as im struggling to sleep. Stumbled upon this instead, who needs sleep when you get cool stuff like this. Amazing song! Also, i can totally imagine Morgoth and Sauron singing something to the other Ainur they recruited (most of which became Balrogs) before they had Orcs.

Thinking of Sauron singing a lullaby to the orcs makes me think of it as cute and motherly in a very strange way, as the lyrics of the song are clearly a mind control spell. Perhaps he thinks of this fact as: "I am Sauron the villainous mother who sings sinister songs to her maleficent children. hahahaha

By any chance do you have a version of this without the vocals? To clarify, I love the vocals and the lyrics, I would just like to use this song as a background for d&d when the party next encounters the Big Bad. One of my players has an auditory condition that muddles their perception of speech if more than one person is talking, so anything with lyrics ends up really hard on them. Beautiful song, chilling, and gives a haunting and lingering slow malice. A perfect lullaby for the Dark Lord Sauron.

I do like the song, but throughout most of it the background music is completely drowning out the lyrics to the point where they are completely unintelligible without the words on the screen. EDIT: The soundcloud version is much better.
