The key distinguishing feature used in the study was, from what little the holotype specimens could tell us, that Saurophaganax had unique notches on its vertebrae. Later some tail vertebrae and they discovered that Saurophaganax had unique lower tail vertebrae that were not found in Allosaurus, but were convergently evolved in large Tyrannosaurs. Along with the fact that its femur has a different shape to it than that of Allosaurus. As of right now there are currently 13 known Saurophaganax specimens, though most of them are pretty fragmentary. Currently there is a study being done on all of the known Saurophaganax material.

I like how at 4.10 you mention sphenodonts and put a picture of a tuatara, the only living species left from the order Rhynchocephalia. I'm from Aotearoa (New Zealand) so just thought that was pretty cool. Edit: sorry I just nerded out over that.

Alternative view: Of the billions of these animals that ever lived, a spattering of parts have been found. So size estimates for a whole race of animals are impossible. It's unlikely that the large specimen was an 'Andre the giant' because, if only 20 human skeletons are found millions of years from now, it's highly unlikely that Andre is the one they'd find. If only 10 random human bodies are found millions of years from now are they likely to be highly representative of the billions of us who ever existed?

I would say around 1861 when the Archaeopterix fossil was found in Germany. Feathers are clearly imprinted and visible, there could be no doubt. With deeper analysis of bones and the animal morphology, doubts were little about birds branching out from those dinos. It must have been mind blowing at the time!

If there where big Theropods in america, - I am more than sure that they also, or mabe bigger existed many other places on earth in the Jurrasic period etc. - We only know a sup er tiny fragment of the life back then. - Most of the animals back then did not become fossilised, or are gone, or mostly wil never be found... But animals like Saurophaganax and Torvosurus are stunning. - Hope some day someone can dig up a complete speciment of this extreme Carnivore... Thank you for the exellent video documentary.

I still believe it's a large member of the Allosaurus genus. Kinda like a lion compared to a leopard. This is a bit like the genus Panthera. The tiger, lion, leopard, jaguar and snow leopard. All of the same genus but clearly different species. Saurophaganax is a species of the genus Allosaurus.

I have a question regarding the Alaskan Tyrannosaur Nanuqsaurus. Previously I remember when it was initially described it was dubbed the “dwarf tyrannosaur” but recently it seems there’s evidence to suggest that it was at least within the same size as the distantly related Yutyrannus. Could you elaborate on what that evidence is and if there’s reason to believe that perhaps Nanuqsaurus would retained its feathers to survive in its environment? Thank you!

here's a question for you do you think that some herbivorous dinosaurs specifically sauropods or herbivorous therapods had the males form up in a display area like a leck for a certain bird types? I know that would be hard to envision from the evidence of just the bones, but I think they would have benefited from doing something like that whereas safety in numbers one And it prevents super violence between the Males they stake out an area and do displays And then the females come to them and decide who's the better man or male in this case. because the ultimate goal for a male in the species is to reproduce and to display and attract a female to him or more than one and that in this sense it's possibly so the meals would gather first steak up their territory such each other up

My very first impression was that it reminded me tons of the allosaurus and i have seen them a plenty. I still would say this could also be an extremely well-aged Allosaurus, perhaps they kept on growing until they die and some individuals did grow that much larger.

@Krona-fb4dn 20 дней назад
It is not. Its atlas (the first vertebrae of its spine) and other features show Sauro has adaptations akin to other megatheropods for size. So it had its own thing going on and was a lot more than just "big allosaurus", especially since one undescribed individual could have enormous proportions, but its undescribed all we know is that it is *huge* Also they are found in different stratigraphy layers. Saurophaganax is found in the youngest layer.

I'm still so annoyed that people feel the need to put feather coats on dinosaurs. Not that it wasn't possible, but there is little evidence that it was pervasive and some fossils may show spikes or other appendages that may or may have not been feather-like.

And I saw the dead-the great and the small-standing before the throne. The books were opened, and another book was opened-the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what was written in the books, according to their deeds. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Sheol gave up the dead in them. Then they were each judged, each one of them, according to their deeds. Then death and Sheol were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death-the lake of fire. And if anyone was not found written in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:12-15 (Tree of Life Version) Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but can’t kill the soul. Instead, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Mateus 10:28-33 (NIRV) This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ. John 17 : 3 a For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don't forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Matthew 6 : 14 for the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Romans 14:17-20 King James Version (KJV) And the devil who deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet were, and shall be tormented day and night forevermore.
