@@mick5740 It was at Sportsmans Warehouse in Boise Idaho. This was over a month ago so I'm going from memory. Around $420.00 with a Bushnell scope factory mounted. Around $480.00 with a Bushnell Banner scope factory mounted. I have a Bushnell Sportview mounted on my 30-30. I've used it for three decades. It's budget but it is clear & has never lost it's zero. Bushnell is the best of the budget scopes in my opinion. Bushnell Banner is a better quality than the real budget scopes but obviously it's not a Leopold. For $420 or $480, I can't complain.
Had my axis .30-06 for 13 years now, had to send the bolt back when I first got it. Came back butter smooth and I've never looked back. Taken dozens of deer, weathered some of the nastiest weather and dirt. But it always shoots straight.
@@omarmendez4003same here bolt sticks hard at 3 different spots during the action no matter how much lube I apply. I figured it just needed some rounds shot through it.
@arefeenahmed3954 get a new mag. The new ones have a spring loaded latch instead of the plastic spring tab. They're much better and I'm told they work with Axis rifles that didn't come with them
@mdixon26288 the 110 may be a legendary action. But my 110s action was utter dog shit until i swapped the bolt handle to tactical one and installed a bolt lift kit- and sent it back to the factory because it wouldn't feed. Just like Remington, the Savage Arms of today is not what they used to be. Out of the box, my 110 had loose screws for the rings and bases of my optic mounts, a bolt so stiff, it felt like dragging a grand piano down a dirt road, and it wouldn't feed properly, it would jam, or skip over the rounds in the mag entirely. As an owner of a 110, they no longer have that legendary quality and reliability out of the box, or atleast mine didn't. It was an unreliable piece of junk, until i sent it back and had Savage fix it. It works fabulously now. But i should not have had as many issues as i did, right out of the box.
Just bought one and I concur. Oiled and all it is rough. Optics loose and slanted, disappointed about it out of the box, but once tweaked shoots straight.
Most deer 50 to 100 yards but occasionally out to 150 yards. I like the 3x9x50 for light gathering for early morning late afternoons. The rifle and scope can take deer at greater distances I just don't feel comfortable taking longer shots.@@matthewkirkland6497
Have a Stevens 200 in 22-250 which is basically the same rifle in a different stock. I have to say, after some heavy trigger work that was done on it, it is the most accurate rifle I own, printing 1 inch groups at 200 yards pretty much maximum. Course, you have to wait 10 minutes between shots with such a hot cartridge and thin barrel
There’s a bolt kit that helps a lot with it, also get a longer bolt handle too and it like a different rifle cost you about 50 bucks well worth it if it’s a issue with you gun
Love my Axis II in 300 blackout, only downside is how hard it is to lift the bolt handle. Although my trigger is way lighter, I have it tuned down to just over 3lbs. Things a quiet little tack driver.
My buddy just got a savage access with Bushnell scope 429 at sportsman's Warehouse. The rifle's great to 308 shoots. Excellent for a low cost rifle. Very nice smooth bolt. The bush knows scope is absolutely garbage. Took it to the range to sight it in at 200 yards than 500 yards. First three shots held true. After that it was all over the place. Replaced it with a better quality scope. Now the rifle is dead. Nuts. Holds true shoots straight. No striations anywhere, so get yourself one if you're looking for a low-cost rifle but take that scope. Put it on a 22 for a child. That way it can still be used and get yourself a higher quality vortex
Got this on clearance with no scope for 54 bucks after tax. 30-06. Put a mcarbo trigger kit in it and put a vortex scope on it and is my go to rifle atm
Love my savage axis! Shes a 6.5 creedmoor tack driver and quite honestly, id trust it to hunt everywhere and everything in North America.. well, at least everything withing ethical range for a 6.5 creedmoor to dispatch that is. Hogs, deer, Elk, pronghorn, hell, id even take her to Africa and go get me an impala! Bigger than that, im not sure, maybe a kudu? Ill have to look up what african game a 6.5 creedmoor will take down.
Great video ! I've been a target shooter for years now, and I am begining deer/javelina hunting (with a Mosin Nagant I already have...), I've made up my mind to buy a dedicated hunting rifle and it's going to be a Savage Axis (I ain't rich), would y'all recommend .243 win or .308 win...???
@@gunit8890 weird my 350 legend savage axis 2 bolt lift is stupid hard. Imma try to clean the crap outta it and try to throw some rounds thru it to see if it gets any better idk
@@812racingsame with my 6.5 Creedmoor. I’ve cut my thumb multiple times on the scope opening that sticky effing bolt. I may try to polish it down a bit with jewelers polish.
@@m1cajah I threw some rounds thru it (about 20) and cleaned it and it got a little better but still stiff asf I heard it’s because that’s also the cocking mechanism so it’ll always be somewhat stiff and then the timing or something can be off sometimes idk
I have this rifle in 3006 caliber and the bullets get hung up in the magazine when I shoot it I have cleaned it up a lot of times and it still hangs up
@@tylerminich9998 I've seen cheap guns shoot well. My comment was in reference to "a thing of true beauty". It's a Savage Axis and certainly not beautiful. In fact it's probably one of the ugliest modern bolt guns.
I got the older one Like that with the logos in them I'm not happy with them taking off the warrior logo have not got new one because of that. With just SAVAGE on it😮💨 Let down 👇
Why the bolt face is dirty as hell. Mine too has that sh!t from very first day, and I cann`t rid of it. Does any one know how to scap that stuff and don`t destroy the bolt?
It’s not recommended a 223 round has less powder than a 556 I’ve read it can blow the chamber but I don’t have any experience exchanging them out It may just be a theory because I’m sure the ar guys have shot 556 out of a 223 hindereds of times
@@ReloadingWeatherby lol ,,, I have actually hunt and kill bears and have seen in person lots of bullets used in different calibers on bears.... just because you can use your finger to brush your teeth doesn't mean you should...
Stock is trash, trigger spring probably needs replacement, that bolt face looked like it already had surface rust, hope that barrel is properly blued or coated. Still... I bought an Axis 1 for under $400, and had a blast home-smithing it to something I very much love. Glad to see it looks like they fixed the magazine catch. On the Gen 1 sometimes they would fall straight out of the bottom.
Worst rifle I ever bought. Brand new and doesn't even make the rounds go off hardly leaves a mark on the bullet tried many times on same bullet and nothing. Put the same bullet in a several years old remington and firs time the round went off.
