Just bought one in .223. Having trouble with the feeding. Bullets jam @ the bottom of the barrel interface 50% of the time. Tried different ammo, same thing. Any ideas anyone?
Would be interesting to see what it would look like at 200 and maybe even 300 yards, seeing wether or not these bullets would start to tumble as the velocity decreases...
That Axis and the Ruger American are some of the best deals out there. A friend has a Ruger in 6.5 Grendel, 7.62x39, and 6.5 Creedmoor. With the right loads they are all sub MOA, and the price is right. I know some folks that have the Axis and they shoot well, as you can tell, with the right loads.
I was back and forth between the Ruger and Savage. Picked up the Savage because it was 125 cheaper then the Ruger and the Savage came with a scope. I know someone that got the Ruger in 7.62x39 so going to see how that performs.
....great groups from an cheap rifle - shooting Federal GMM with the right bullet weight is almost a guarantee to get best accuracy from a rifle. For me the 69grm was perfect for 1:9 22" .223 barrel. I've been able to make reloads as good with the same bullet as Federal is in short supply in the UK for almost 2 years and it's expensive (£35 / 20).
@@BehindTheTrigger0 ...I started reloading last Christmas just for .223 and it's great fun. I clean, trim and prep the brass by hand and use a RCBS Rockchucker with Lee dies and just neck size. Makes great, cheap ammo - but you need time!
Savage rifles are known for being accurate, but you had better bore scope the barrel. I did my Savage 110 Tactical in 308W badly shattered and was replaced.
I was just talking to guy at the range today about bore scopes. I am afraid if I get one I will never by a rifle off the shelf again. A bore scope is on my long list of things to get. Any recommendations?
