@@dominicpriest who cares about the berrics all those guys are flatground losers that couldn't make a good video part to save their lives. Congrats you did a million double flips and can win a flatground contest
Formulate your own verdict , don't expect be spoonfed an opinion to regurgitate like a mindless drone Regardless of what joa thinks I like Andy Anderson's skating; the darkslide on the squiggly rail is a uncommon trick on a refreshing obstacle and the back lip front foot impossible was definitely nbd as far as I'm concerned. I give his new part a 4.2/5 My only critique is the random freestyle tricks becomes pointlessly trivial to watch at times & totally kills the flow of the footage.
Crazy Wisdom was a term popularized by Tibetan Buddhist teacher Chogyam Trungpa. It refers to a subversive style of teaching where you challenge the students preconceptions, often through unorthodox means. There are a lot of stories around this type of teaching in Tibetan Buddhism, but Chogyam Trungpa was definitely the person to popularized the term in the western world. Trungpa was genuinely brilliant (I've read a few of his books and they are unparalleled) and also unique in his teaching and lifestyle. There's a great documentary on RU-vid about his life, and it's called CRAZY WISDOM. I highly recommend the book Shambhala: The Sacred Path of the Warrior for a brilliant introduction to both Buddhism and Trungpa's teaching emphasis. It's a true classic and a great read and full of practical life advice.
@@Hoodinator17 lol ok bro let’s just never explore anything outside of our worldview including one of the most respected wisdom traditions in the world because it sounds like weird mysticism. Buddhism is actually not about believing anything at all the Buddha actually said don’t believe what I say try this out for yourself and see if it works. Buddhism is about understanding how attachment causes suffering and it’s about using attention to recognize and free ourselves from attachment so we suffer less.
As much as his style is weird as fuck boy been pushing boundaries since he entered the game so seeing him out that into play on some of these tricks is actually dope as fuck
I might just be getting older and not caring as much, but I feel like we've been steadily transitioning to a post-cringe society, basically a world built for Andy
My favorite part was when Andy did the freestyle line that he's said is far and away the most difficult thing in the part, and Joa's only reaction was "was that hard?"
All the goofy clown tricks that look like shit culminate into the unbelievably well executed NBDs. You can’t have perfection. He’s gotta be able to push his creativity to break boundaries
It's nice to see GH impressed, especially by a Powell rider. They wanted a modern day Mullen with transition abilities and bigger goes. I'm sure George pays him well.
@@carolynberge2919that and the technology he has came out with will go down in history as a game changer to skateboarding, unbreakable decks, nut covering wheels ! The dragons? I have watched A LOT of GH but I would really love to understand where the Powell hate stems from, I think just him and Dan Corrigan don’t like each other or maybe should I say he doesn’t enjoy Dan, but as they say to each their own.
@@zeustrys2710 vision was influencial too, didn't stop the public sentiment from changing. I don't mind Powell but they've had a kooky status for like 15 years at least
13:50 Powel boards is letting him make his own deck mold over and over, AND takes his input on new wheel models. Andy seems to really relish that, and the legacy brand status of Powell.
I met andy at the local park once and he was super chill even tho it was like 1am. He taught me how to casper stall and pogo better and was geniune af. I dont just freestyle skate but its cool seeing someone bring it back into play. He wasnt wearing a helmet when i skated w him btw. 😂 respect to the satan spin too
@@evolvedapesinc.7550 I agree. And I think it’s obvious that the rail is not possible without slowing down the first rail, but I do wish he had slowed down less of it. The gnarly level would’ve increased exponentially
This video part is like Whole Lotta Red. When it first comes out, everyone is gonna hate. But in a few years, trust me, everyone will be biting AA’s tricks.
Fr I was thinking like imagine popping out just normal, would be soo slow unless you land heavy on back truck or even then I don’t think would look very good
Nigel seems like an overly nice guy so its really hard to be critical of him, morally, but Jesus fucking Christ this filming is nowhere near the level of acceptable for this skating....
There is a reason why Nigel is a lot of people’s first filmer than they all move on to greater things. I’m sure he is great dude. He’s super close with prod. But prod never filmed a part with him either..
@@CrystalVortex I guess I can believe that. I'm not trying to be a hater, I don't even think he is a bad Filmer, but I don't know if he takes the craft that serious if he is willing to shoot a part on an iPhone. It's not innovative. its regressive. It's easier on him but the quality was lost.
@@SuperDeucen Oh, I absolutely agree with everything else you said. Having filmed/edited an entire prod video in the past only emphasizes your point. On a slightly related note, I think Nigel was also in charge of the follow-up video Proof, which is a lot less fondly remembered than Forecast, not least because of it's um shall we say unique cinematography.
@@CrystalVortex well one thing is he strikes me as someone who wanted to be a pro and ended up a Filmer. And he has been skating a lot lately, so I do think it goes back to just being totally dedicated to it. I worked with some filmers many years ago and they all had a passion and pride that would have never allowed something like this to happen. he just doesn't seem to have that. I will still take him over strobeck, though. lol
It’s actually baffling how lame skateboarding has gotten that people are more concerned about this dude’s “style” than is unbelievable creativity and skill. If you have to base a skate trick against “rules” you’re the person who is lame, not the dude doing it. Skateboarding having rules and wanting to enforce them is the most normie thing imaginable. Sorry, end rant. I’m glad the core skate community is coming around to Andy but the current skate scene is in dire need of this dude and I’m glad people are starting to see his vision.
i remember watching some video with Andy where he talks about his skateboarding and he said that somebody skates gnarliest rails, somebody is into ledge tech stuff and Andys skateboarding is about being able to balance on his tricks, this resembles in most of his tricks as on that snake rail, or the way his board is almost magnetized to the rail on 50-50s, even on the chain ender, it's all about balancing your body weight and time it perfectly. simultaneously the most hillarious and craziest part
Andy should be forever pissed at nigel for making him think an iphone would be ok to film this with. The footage looked absolutely terrible, just think about it for literally two seconds, no good parts have ever been filmed with just an iphone and there's a reason for that.
Andy is incredibly creative and does so much new stuff on his skateboard. It’s insane that someone with that much creativity could put out that level of complete ass as a skate part.
it's such a bummer that it was filmed with an iphone. the reason apparently is because his filmer wants to skate on the sesh and doesn't want to carry a camera. andy needs to get as far away from that guy as possible.
lol daddy joa didn’t like how it wasn’t everyone now everyone is here to follow suit, it’s skateboarding and how much better of a part would you make with a real camera. It’s left up to you to imagine what the trick would look like in real life not suppose to be a representation of what it’d look like if you seen it in real life, shallow as hell a lot of this fan base you guys are gonna be mocked as the next tool fans of skateboarding if you keep acting like the edge lords you do
The helmet and drip im able to get past. His skate parts and wack social media behavior is his issue. If his shit was filmed and edited well and all you saw of him was video parts and instagram bangers he would be goated as hell. But andy LOVES attention. So that will never happen
swatch nines is a freestyle ski & snowboard event, as well as a mountain bike event in the summer, and for some reason they decided to put a skate bowl in the gap between one of the jumps this year 🤷♂️
So for the antiwax discussion - how is making rail less slippery any different from making it more slippery with wax? In both cases you use an external tool to adjust the speed at which you grind the rail.
dont know if anyone said this before but with a lot of tricks the only reason people are hating is because andy is the one executing them. if this was max palmer or anyone else "cool", people would be loosing their minds (and thats coming from a huuuge max fan boy). I do know that style and the lack of irony in this case play a huge role but I dont really think should hate as much as they do
100% accurate. max palmer does a lot of combo tricks which people have made fun of && for. it's pure hypocrisy because it's the popular thing to do. his style isn't great but it doesn't justify the amount of hate he gets. you would think he did some horrible thing but no. i've seen them try to twist his awkwardness into him being a narcissist and shit too which is fucked. they try to find any reason to justify their hatred of him. most values that skaters claim to have is marketing and an image to uphold.
For real this was a pleasure to watch HAHA I'm from Vancouver and knew of Andy years before he became known in the skate world. To have watched many of Joa's videos and appreciate his harsh but reasoned perspective, I found it so funny to hear him put so much respect on Andy's name. Skateboarding is "cool" but the reason we do it is because it's fun. I think Andy just skates for the sake of skating, not caring about being "cool". But skating is cool, people like Kader or Tyshawn are culturally relevant and get paid well because of it. It's so easy to hate on Andy, but he's just having fun. I was glad to see Joa appreciate that! Love
Back in the day skaters used to get 100 dollars for every time they wore a swatch in promo so skaters would start wearing a ton of them to get more money. They don’t do that anymore but Andy is paying homage to the 80’s skaters who did that.
Its nice to see Joa going from laughing at Andy for how stupid some tricks are to being in utter disbelieve that the moves in the video are actually real and did infact happen on a skateboard. He's got the eyes of a little child watching the part!
Andy is the only guy who does these kinda illegal tricks but can also skate big stuff Imo usually ppl who get super tech and do the kinda illegal tricks Andy does, are doing so because they don’t have that much power and can’t skate that big, so to progress they get more complicated within that limitation. Andy is powerful and can skate big stuff and still skates this way and it’s awesome
I feel like if Andy hit that rail with the yoga mat a good 50-100 times that he’d be so familiar with that kink, that he could probably hit it without the yoga mat.
the rock fakie on a rail has been done before by cole wilson in his 'oddity' part. this rail looks far more difficult and gnarly though. the rail is so different that one could argue that it's not really the same trick. at the same time i wouldn't say that andy's trick is an nbd for that reason.
The reason why andy doesnt care much about the cameras is because he thinks if a clip loks more like it couldve been filmed by everyone, then it seems more accesible to the people who dont fully understand it, he spoke about it alot in detail on hawk and wolf
I think the whole unwritten skateboarding rules are so stupid. The only rule should be that you can't lie about it, he showed that he altered the spot so it's fine to me
i'm not particularly fond of his skating, but it has always annoyed me when they try to undermine his talent. those same people would be jizzing their pants if max palmer put out those clips. the homeless guy situation was also super lame too. it was some twisted way of justifying their hated of him. somehow not liking his skating isn't enough.
