I really enjoyed this video, Emily! I love how detailed you are in explaining things and I definitely need to invest in a better turntable and scraper, as you demonstrated!! 😊🙏🏽🇨🇦
Great advice. I started with the cheaper options, but they really are a waste when you realise the splurge options work better. As a novice, I should have started with quality to improve faster. I also buy "green" piping bags as I go through a lot & trying to cut back landfill waste. Great video 🏆
Great video and all such helpful tips! Love your videos and appreciate all your advice! Now excuse me while I go Amazon prime an acrylic scraper and metal turn table. 😂
Thank you for this video, it was really helpful! I'm usually one to go for cheaper options but I see how they can set me back from achieving great cakes. For example, I've been using a lazy Susan as a turntable but now I'm gonna invest in a metal turntable. Love the stencil ideas too🤗
Can't imagine how piping tips and bags are an "option". I'm not a professional cake decorator but these items are not expensive. If you're going to take the time to decorate, at least use it good tools. On the other hand, I have a sturdy, plastic turntable. Seldom have I ever needed a perfectly smooth icing. I do it for the enjoyment and as a gift for the person.
I really love your videos.. I've learnt a lot. Will soon start cake decorations😊. Please can you make a video on how to price cakes? I'm in Nigeria, so if it's possible to make the pricing guide easy to calculate in different currencies.. Thank you❤️❤️
Thanks for the video. I have now bought a metal turntable and an acrylic smoother. Looking forward to try it next to compare as it takes me longer with the plastic ones. Also where do u buy the lovely stencils for buttercream as I am struggling to find them here in the UK.
There's a step by step demonstration at the beginning of this video on piping bag hacks: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XYc7vqHtmUk.html
An acrylic cake comb! However I am at a cross road now wondering whether I should get the acrylic or the stainless steel comb. As you have mentioned in your video on cake combs that it’s the most sturdy. Really enjoyed this video, Emily, thank you!
I'm happy you liked the video! In case it's helpful, my personal preference is an acrylic comb comb to smooth frosting and metal combs for textured frosting!
I have a Christmas wish list that I've made available to family members, full of baking and cake decorating equipment! And a stainless steel scraper/smoother is one of the items on there. There's lots of things that aren't too expensive too, for those relatives on budget but who really want to give you something. Like I've asked for some specific piping tips that I don't have, or in a size I don't currently have. And sprinkles are always welcome gifts!
Metal scrapers are great too! My personal favourite is acrylic but everyone has different preferences. Metal scrapers are long-lasting and very popular!
