Chris, great video and I followed your instructions. I replaced mine with just the heated version, since I never felt the tint worked anyway. Just a tip for others, for the 2 “posts or arms” that you transfer over to the new mirror, I found that a 1/2” deep 7/16 hole in the block kept it steady so I didn’t have to fight it to keep it straight, because it does require a hefty push.
"This help a lot to get in the right direction". Just fixed it (30MAR23) just like driver side on this video, these are the ones that normally go bad on c5s. I pulled the two notches out to reach better, they extend if you pull on them softly with rubber pliers . The other two are what rotates the mirrors, if you are afraid to break them use a T8x2in "star" screw driver to take off those three screws, they are the longer ones 😊
Thanks for posting this. I am going to do this today on my '01 C5. I bought a used mirror+housing assembly. Hoping to "simply" pop out the replacement glass, then pop out my damaged glass, and then install the replacement. Your video is very thorough and helpful.
Thanks for this video man. I was guessing how to reinstall the glass and thought I was going to break mine. Just had to push a little harder! This vid helped me figure that out!
Thanks Chris for a very useful video I would not have had the confidence to attempt this repair without it, not to mention finding the place to order it. My Z06 is a 2004, and it had little rubber boots over the two removable posts. I did not use them. For me the hardest step was the last one, snapping the mirror back on. But now it Is on and looks great, not to mention its function. Thanks!
Glad the video helped. It was stressful trying to figure it out. I couldn’t find any good videos so I figured it would be good to make one since other people would probably have the same issue.
Big thumbs up 👍 always appreciate those of you who share your repair experiences. Nice to know ahead of time what I’m up against. My ‘04 C5 Lemans Blue Commemorative will be getting a new mirror very soon 🥶 was hoping to see your ride in your vid, may be next time.
Thank you!! Have been too nervous to replace the driver's side mirror in my C5 despite having the part. Appreciate you getting into details and the close shots of the actuators, etc!
Joeballz85 Glad the video helped! I couldn’t find a good video when I did mine so I thought making one might help someone else. Be sure to check the link in the video description for more photos and instructions.
I know this is an older video but thanks for posting. I need to help a friend replace their mirror, it’s got that weird dark film that’s Liquid on it. What makes the mirror do that?
Thanks for the great video Chris...just ordered one from you link....What is your opinion on dabbing a little vasoline or caliper grease on the small balls to aid in snapping them in a little easier.....Dave
OMG 350 dollars. My 03 C5 did the exact same thing except I just got a non heated non dimming replacement glass for 15 dollars of Amazon. To me this is a safety hazard and GM should be responsible for the defective part and eat the cost of replacing everyone that has done this.
My '03 had rubber boots on the 2 extended posts, so I popped the posts of the mirror back and put them into their motor-sockets (makes that clicky-sound), then put the boots back on. Then you just line up those 4 ball & sockets and press into place. 'Froggy' posted a similar vid that shows those boots & posts in place Thanks for the tips!
I’m sorry for the misunderstanding but I never posted a part number because I never had a part number myself. I did post a link to the website that I ordered the part from over the phone. You might have the same luck if you call the phone number and describe the part like I did. Part I received worked perfect. Again I never posted the actual part number.
@@chicalitrece9409 go to my website in the description and there is a link in the blog post to the website. I called them and got the part ordered over the phone.
