Saved From the Crusher: 1941 Plymouth 2 Door!

Hi! Thought you might want a quick look at this 1941 Plymouth that we picked up a few weeks ago. A fellow I know needed it gone and neither of us wanted it to go for scrap, so I am giving it a home. It's in pretty rough shape, but what isn't? haha.
Anyway, I have a much better, complete 4 door car that may benefit from a few parts from this car, or maybe someday it might be saved, but for now it's going to get some tires put on and get stored here with a bunch of its friends.
Thanks again to everyone who subscribed to this channel, and thanks from all of us here for your likes, questions and comments.
10000 subs is coming up and we've got a pretty fun video planned, if we can pull it off! Also, the final installation of the Frazer series is coming up soon; it'll be great to celebrate the completion of that terrific project and start thinking about the next one!
Cheers from me and Stel

By the way, The UPFKATUP has been in a tizzy over this, running about, skipping along, singing little ditties to himself, etc. I'm starting to think he might be a little light in the heels, if you know what I mean. He even (univited) confided in me that he wants to be a secret agent. Sez I: "What in the hallucinating hell are you talking about?" Sez he: "I want to be one of those secret agents on those videos." Sez I: "Well, then haul your ass up to the Canadian Outback and put in your application, you fruity little turd." Sez he: "That's the nicest thing you ever said about me." Sez I: "Shaddup."

coldwarmotors you're welcome the car looks like it's in really good shape body wise it looks solid you should try to put the motor back together and get it running also do you know any ways to hop up a flat head six from those cars I want to make mine a hot rod but I'd like to leave the stock motor in it

Hi, the Govt of New Zealand of the time , used these Chrysler cars as ministerial cars , an old now deceased friend owned one, I borrowed it to use on a vintage car rally , in the course of turning it around in my yard, I hit a support post of my deck , wiped out the post 8x8 square ! Heart in mouth I got out to inspect the damage to the car , Nothing !! Just a bit of stain off the post on the rear bumper !!! , I polished off ,

Hey! ...How ya doin' aye? That Atlas m&s looks pretty good...still got tread on the sidewall, and it's only flat on the bottom! I 💘 Love "My classic tire" The thing I like about you is, when we see a rock, you see a 💎 diamond! Cars that wouldn't survive 5 minutes anywhere else, you and Stella drag home with SOME potential, either as a "Will it run?" or a parts car for one that will. Thanks for that...and bringing us along so we can enjoy your insight and vision. Keep it up, we need you and Stella to brighten our Covid 19 world. Mark, Detroit Michigan, 7/25/20. ✌😀

It is rough for sure but even if it's too rough to be saved there are still nice and valuable parts left! Some of my friends never understood why I bought those crusty '57 Plymouths from that legendary swiss junkyard but there were lots of good parts on both cars, some rare as hen's teeth. Power windows, power steering and power brakes on both cars, a 240kph (~150mph) Fury speedo + a 200kph (~120mph) speedo. The 4dr Belvedere even had power seat.

Pretty comedic comment about the tread! This reminds me of an old friend who wore out the front tires on his Honda so badly that one would say it looked like a bald racing tire. Absolutely nothing. The funny thing is that it was front wheel drive and he drove those old tires to death into the winter snow and ice.

Huh a few negative comments regarding your car collection CWM. Personally in a few more years I believe you'll be one of the few ppl around to have some of these automobiles. It's just like land. Buy all you can because they're not making anymore of it. I really enjoy seeing the old cars even in their sorry state. You and your agents do a great job of fixing them up. Keep up the good work!!
@coldwarmotors
@coldwarmotors 8 лет назад
Hey, thanks for the encouraging words; I'm not too bothered about the opinions of folks who don't restore cars for a living, and therefore often don't understand how useful it is to have several copies of any car you are going to try to build. Granted, this Plymouth is rough as hell, but I paid next to nothing for it and it will definitely donate a few parts to my other 41 Road King project. Cheers from all of us here at CWMC!

Okay, I've been watching your channel now for quite some time and for the life of me I can't figure out what your end game is! It seems you buy these cars and move them from one graveyard to your graveyard "saving them from the crusher" . But to what end? Only occasionally do we see you fix one up and get it moving which is great but what then? Sell it? Park it and watch them decompose some more? Just wondering...
@coldwarmotors
@coldwarmotors 8 лет назад
Hey, thanks for the note... Many of these "crusher" cars are bought (like this one) as parts cars for other projects. I have a decent 41 Plymouth, so when this came along, I bought it. Same with a lot of the 57-8-9 Plymouth and Dodge cars... I need a lot of cars to make a couple of good coupes. Once I get one on the road (like the Frazer), I'll sell off the parts cars to someone or to a wrecking yard. Several cars I bought simply because I wanted one, like the 59 Chevy and the Nash and a few others. Several of them (58 Delray, 1955 Dodges) I bought literally so they wouldn't get crushed, and I'm just going to re-sell them to better homes. Also, I really just wanted a nice row of 1950s cars in my yard... no reason; I'm never going to fix up the 57 Studebaker sedan, but I wanted "one of each" for the row. Now I have GM, Ford, Chrysler, and each of the independents represented in my driveway. I just like old cars I guess. I have half a dozen plated classics at any given time, so I don't need to try to fix every one of them. I've got enough cars now, so from here on I'm going to keep rotating the weaker cars out and slowly replace them with better ones. I hope I was able to clarify my motivation a bit for you, cheers!
@mattaustin2128
@mattaustin2128 3 года назад
At the end of the day, do we need a reason to save these cars? I have a handful of old cars and trucks, one of which is my driver, and several others which I like the look of. They’re all 1942 or earlier, and they make me smile. I reckon that’s enough.

Yeah...sigh...well, that's the way it is. Not everything could/should be saved. Sometimes something simply has to "die" finally so that other things are able to live respectively live longer (equal to nature, humans, technique). Engine looks complete so that this car could spend many parts. I appreciate coldwarmotors very much and I'm looking forward to watch a lot more videos. All the best luck to you all (two- legged, four- legged, two- wheeled, four- wheeled and other- wheeled and weird "things").

Is the pronunciation "Chryzler" a regional dialect thing, or just a personal quirk? I haven't seen enough of these videos yet to see if any of the other agents pronounce it that way too.

It is a smoke influenced dialect.

Hi! Interesting; I've always heard it with the "z" sound, but now that you mention it, I've also heard it said with the "s" sound... maybe it is a regional thing? I have always just assumed it was pronounced "Chryzler". Weird, haha.

I had a neighbour back in the '50s who always had a new Chrysler Imperial in his driveway. He called it his 'Chryzler' and his wife 'warshed' it every Saturday when the Sun was shining. I have no idea why he talked that way. The local Chrysler dealer was one of his 'ceegar' smoking Poker buddies. He used a few other strangely pronounced words that slip my mind now. He seemed to be otherwise intelligent and he made tons of money. I'm sure that he knew better but to me it made him sound a bit dopey.

Jimmy Kraktov I went to IU and the Indiana locals always said warsh and they pronounced the S in Illinois.
