I sailed on Pacific Dawn in 2019 and sadly P&O Australia had allowed her to deteriorate. My favourite place on her was the Dome but on this cruise there wasn't one clear window for us to enjoy the view. She is a grand old lady and a perfect size for cruising. I can't wait to enjoy your ship tour.

Oh, boy! I’m so glad about the good news you’ve just given me. I’ve sailed on the Dawn for three wonderful years from Sydney and Brisbane to every corner of the South Pacific. I served as a senior second officer and we had good times and bad times, but she will always rest into my heart. Thank you 🙏

I loved the Dome on the Dawn. Looks like they’ve done a nice refurb. I like the size. Fed up with floating cities. Aussie Bob

so glad to see her in Australian waters again. Pacific Dawn was my first cruise in 2017 and I love her design and distinctive Dome. Truly a ship that stands out in port from all the other cruise ships we now see. I have often wondered what ever happened to her Brass Bengal Tiger that inhabited the Dome?

This ship looks familiar and I'm pretty sure it is the same ship that Emma from @emmacruises boarded in December 2022 only to have the cruise cancelled before leaving port.

Thanks for that cool video. I have seen this ship but not sailed on her. Good to see she continues on the high seas.My last cruise was one month ago on one leg of Island Princess' World Cruise. LA to Sydney. Next cruise for us is South America Santiago, to Buenos Aires. December 2024. Thanks Chris for your videos and the podcast.

Sadly her sister wasn't so lucky. The "Crown Princess" changed owners serveral times over the years. Ended up as "Karnika" with an Indian company in 2019. Only one year later the pandemic stopped her and she was scrapped in 2020.

I had a chance to get onboard Ambience while she was in Melbourne. Ambassador have done a great job. The internal spaces are really nice.

Just returned from the Round the World Cruise on Ambience. Had a fabulous time. Design and size of the ship made it intimate and friendly. Quality of its construction and subsequent refurbishments has hidden its age and whilst the cabins are large and reasonably well equipped they are a little drab and dated. Under Ambassador’s ownership I think it may have a good few more years life.

Not my favorite ship in terms of design, but much better than anything they build these days. I'm glad she survived (so far), while seeing many good looking mid-size ships (by today's standards) being scrapped, some even right after being refurbished. The older ships should be preserved (mothballed if there is no current use for them) and they could do s good job as temporary accommodation in zones of disaster (like earthquakes etc). It's all about greed. These ships probably weren't losing money when in service (unless if badly managed), they just weren't earning enough for their greedy owners.

We sailed her when she was the Regal Princess. At that time, she was highly innovative. Very comfortable ship!

Yes I have sailed on the Dawn 2018 about 3 times over the years. . It is great the ship has been saved. Australia should of saved some ships for housing , I am sure many people would enjoy living on a ship and now work from home as people do now it would be a option for housing if run properly.

November 2015 "The largest cruise ship to sail up the Yarra has squeezed under the West Gate Bridge. P&O Cruise's Pacific Dawn sailed under the bridge at 6.15am, en route to Victoria Dock, next to Docklands. It was a narrow squeeze - the luxury liner is 47.6 metres high while the Westgate Bridge 50.1 meters" I observed the departure from the western bank of the Yarra River near Newport, it was a unique view to see a cruise ship in the lower reaches of the Yarra River as the dockings were normally at Station Pier on the actual bay that can accomodate ships & liners such as the QE2 & QM2. I read it was a careful calculation of the low tide depth & the ships draft to allow clearance of the Westgate Bridge without grounding, a very tight fit. Nothing quite like being on a shore about 75-100 meters away to remind you how big these ships are.

We sailed on Dawn way back in 2010, from Sydney. It was our first cruise. Next week we sail with P&O again. Our 3rd trip with them after 2 with Carnival. Happy memories of Dawn

I got to do a 2 week new years cruise in 09-10...or maybe it was 10-11.... ANYWAY, so cool to see the old dome again, was fun dancing when the seas were getting wavey

I sailed on a small cruise to Morton island from Sydney on her sister ship the Pacific Jewel, I must say I cant remember exactly when I sailed on her but she was falling apart and not being looked after at all by P&O Australia also aside from a casino and a ridiculously expensive spa there wasn't a great deal to do on her, Although I did get to stand on top of the big screen on the middle deck as we exited Sydney harbour, that was cool. This was my first time going for a cruise and even though the ship left a lot to be desired. I enjoyed the experience and cant wait to go on another cruise, good to see Pacific Dawn had a better life though.

Sailed on her as the Regal Princess out of Fremantle many years ago at that time the interior & lounges were lovely However I felt she was more suited to colder climates as the outdoor deck space in my opinion seemed limited and was surprised that she was transferred to P&O Australia for that reason... Interestingly Stuart Wagstaff was seen reading a book in the domed lounge /casino at the time

Came from an Adam Something video about this ship’s time as the Satoshi, and considering the sheer ancap-laced incompetence the cryptobros behind Ocean Builders showed, it’s unsurprising that the Ambiance had to deal with maintenance and safety issues in its early years. A fate worse than the scrap heap.

I saw the promos for the 3 new Sitmar ships plus they had an option for 2 more. This is why Princess had a hostile bid for Sitmar, they just wanted the new tonnage . I really wanted to sail on one of them how are they in the open ocean and rough seas?

Went on a round Britain cruise on her second half of last year and could not fault it or her crew. We are regular cruisers and I am an ex-marine engineer from Tankers. If anything she was over ample crewed and generous in the quality of catering. We are due to go to Iceland on her in a few days. That will teach SWIMBO that she is perhaps not so much a hardened sailor
