Last rainy July I remember is 1992 and 1993 where we had 3.5 and 4.9 inches. Our average since then is less than .92 for the month

Sounds like the chick/garb's are hard on the heads and combines. Love eating them, Middle East food. High protein, low fat oil, great flavor stir fried, hummus, baked, high in nutrients Shame the yields are so low. Sounds like going to have to run 100% small grains, wheat, barley for several years to herbicide off all the weeds.

They should make a regurgitation mode where the combine pukes it's guts out from the hopper/tank down (to be read, outside of the contents of the tank). It would be doable, and probably does exist. Also, probably would cost a pretty penny tho.

At today's price for Chickpeas, at what bushels per acres, do you figure you need for break even? This year, was 1 application of fungicide adequate?

It was dry enough no fungicide. So at least $80 would cover cost ($45 for seed, 8 for preemergence, $6 for grassy, $3 rolling, harvest $10, $10 for hail ins)

When u saw you rock that deslug switch I Iaughed nick, we run jd Machines on our farm and we raise 45 bushel chick peas and 110 bushel barley and wheat and we've never and i mean never plugged our rotors you'd plug everything else before you plug a jd rotor not sure whats different but we plug our feed exelarator and our discharge beater which case probley don have that cuz or the chopper setup but the rotor is literally impossible to plug.

@@RobertWelkerFarmerBob case is definitely not a bad machine but we like our jd Machines but I have yet to see a deere rotor plug, and we test ours believe me we have some big crops and they have yet to plug.

Its not the big crops which plug. Most all combines are engineered for that load. It's the non typical crop conditions which presents pop up.

Robert Welker we got 3.3 tons of barley per acre in Ireland this year and 4. 4foot x 3 foot x8 foot bales of straw per acre getting €150 a ton for the barley and €25 each for the bales but the spray cost €110 per acre for the season I can’t remember the fertilizer cost

You need deslug because you are hydrualic drive, a belt on the rotor that is properley adjusted has more torque and you will not plug the machine we have never plug our deere's is will stall the engine first.YOU NEED A AIR REEL, and a flex head if you wanna grow chickpeas or lentils and not have header loss.

Everything is normal Nick it got so dry here in central Montana to. Crop was pretty much identical to ours just not the weeds. But u should have sprayed before u went into them we have to do it every year just not this year was so dry nothing grew

Not having your chopper in balance will wreck all your chopper bearings. The best way to test it is to make a mark on your chopper and on side next to the chopper line the marks up and spin it (chopper in neutral) and the chopper should never stop in the exact same spot. If it does your chopper is un balanced

You need light crop fingers on the front to stop the pods falling out the front, they make a huge difference. They are even very handy in light wheat and barley crops.

I have been through that slug feast stuff with milk weed in wheat one year in hardin Montana on the wheat harvest we tried every combine there was to cut that stuff farmer ended up doing an aero attack with a plane to kill it cost him more than if he had ploughed it in I feel ya pain

On our legume crops we put wide extender fingers on and that reduces the loss out of the front. We have done that with lupins and this year we will do the same when we harvest chickpeas for the first time.

Them weeds are a real problem,you need to grow that kosher in pots and let it grow somewhere warm in the winter and do a chem test to see which herbicide is the most effective at killing it right back ,it seems each year I have been watching it takes a bit more of a hold ,great episode guys hopefully the yields will get a bit better 👍👍👍

Would Roundup or another herbicide even work this late, especially up North on those weeds... usually do wheat, but that’s early Aug or late July to kill stubborn weeds...

Nick, What herbicide do you use to treat your Kochia? We have a bad problem with it in Utah. Have found most of the plants around here have become resistant to certain herbicides so we are seeing no affect.

In chickpeas after emergence nothing is available. A good crop canopy is effective but you need more rain than we get
