I would love to know more about the storey, were you sailing across the channel? were you not able to sail? she looks like a beautiful boat perfect for cruising coastal and inshore in comfort
Hi @akcarlos. Friso is a beautiful Dutch sailing barge - a paviljoen tjalk built in 1894 - she has been my home for the last 30 years during which she has been re-rigged and much of the internals re-built. The story is that the engine over-heated and, as wind and tide were against us, we would have had to anchor for at least 6 hours to wait for the tide to turn and potentially take us back. That would have been in the dark with a dodgy engine. So the better and safer option was to call out for a tow back - which is what happened. The engine is now fixed (new bowman water cooler) and runs well. Hoping to be out sailing again later this summer.
