I am a member of the Nevada Northern Railway Museum. Last year I rode in the cab of No. 93 with the engineer and fireman. A wonderful unforgettable experience. Absolutely fascinating to watch them work together running the locomotive. When the fireman opened the firebox butterfly doors to shovel in coal, the heat was intense!
I too have been privileged to ride in the cab many times at the Texas State Railroad. It was a 4 hr drive from my house to the yard and made a lot of wonderful memories there. All my connections are gone there but do hope to visit the TSRR again and visit the NNRY too. I had some good training from those men at the TSRR and I’m sure I’d do well behind the throttle. Steam rules.
